Youth Affairs

Under 10’s:

‘Go Games’:

Currin hosted another Go Games Blitz on Saturday 26th July at Scotshouse. We had three visiting teams, Killeevan, Éire Óg and Tyholland. Currin were represented by, Daniel McKiernan, Eoghan Molloy, Adam Markey, Rónán McPhillips, Kirsty McPhillips, Peter Boyle, Shannon Murphy and a very welcome return for Magan Swift who was out injured for a quite a while. The team played very well in all three games and under the guidance of Roisin Murphy and Greg Markey can be very well pleased with their mornings work.

Training continues for under 6s, under 8s and under 10s on Saturday morning at 9:30.

Under 12s

The Division 1B Finn Rua (Currin/ Clones) team travelled to Killanny last Friday evening and took on a strong Killanny outfit. We came away second best on a scoreline of 5 14 to 2 09. The Division 3B side took on Emyvale on Tuesday last in Scotshouse..

U-16’s:

A beautiful evening in Scotshouse on Tuesday 22nd July, and a terrific game served up by the Under 16 lads from Patrick Emmets (Currin / Aghabog) and Clones in Division 3 of the League. It was ‘nip and tuck’ throughout the first half and the hosts went in at half time with a one point lead. Clones gained a strong advantage in the second half but Patrick Emmets fought back bravely to go into the lead entering injury time and it took a free with the last kick for Clones to level things. A tough fair game played in a great spirit. Well done to both sets of lads for a very entertaining game. Final Score Patrick Emmets 5-09 Clones 4-12.

The lads take on Castleblaney in a critical game on Thursday evening in ‘Blaney which is the penultimate league game with a throw in time of 7:30. All support appreciated.

Terry McEntee:

Congratulations to Terry on his continued success at the weekend. He had a great win  in the National Cadet Boxing Final.

Croke Park:

Monaghan senior men return to Croke Park on Saturday night to face Kildare in the qualifiers. Kildare had a good win away to Down in the last round and defeated Monaghan in the same stages of the competition a few years ago. Monaghan will be well aware that they will need to be at their very best if they are to set up a crack at the ‘Dubs’. Throw in at 7.00 p.m. Best of luck to Dick and Jack. N.B. Don’t forget that there will be ‘clamping’ around Croke Park during the day on Saturday.

Monaghan Ladies

Monaghan will meet Tyrone in the quarter final on Sunday 9th August.
