Toome Notes

June 17th, 2014

Senior Team: One thing is for sure, following the Toome senior team is proving to be hard on the heart! After needing a replay and extra time to overcome Drumhowan, we hoped that we might make easier work of the next round. Being drawn to play Blackhill soon dashed those hopes, and the game billed as ‘El Clasico’ by some of the younger fans provided plenty of entertainment. Blackhill raced into an 8-0 lead, leaving things looking ominous at that stage. We fought back however, and a 45 scored by Gavin opened our account. A goal from the penalty spot by Gary Wilson restored our hopes, the sides then swapped points, ours coming from a brilliant effort from young Ryan Murphy. We kicked on in the second half, and could easily have snatched the victory, but on balance, we couldn’t complain that the match finished in a draw. Another replay awaits us, time and date to be confirmed. Our next league is the short trip to Oram on Sunday 22nd at 3:30pm.
