Reserves: Our McKeown Cup team had a 4-16 to 2-12 win away to Emyvale last Saturday evening. We started with a well-taken goal by John Mulligan and although Emyvale hit back, five points from Niall Greenan, two from Paul Byrne and one each by Aidan Connell, Dessie McGarry and Ahmed Gamal kept us ahead. Emyvale hit a late goal to close the gap to a point at 1-10 to 2-6, but two points by Dessie, either side of a Paul Byrne goal, gave us the start to the second half we were looking for. Ahmed and Niall both found the net in quick succession, before a point each by Niall and Dessie and a brace from Conor McCaughey completed our scoring, while Ronan McGann saved an Emyvale penalty at the other end.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Aidan Connell (0-1), Niall Treanor; Turlough Clerkin, John Mulligan (1-0), Séamus Brannigan; Lorcan McAdam, James McKenna; Paul Byrne (1-2), Niall Greenan (Capt., 1-6, 0-2f), Ahmed Gamal (1-1); Dessie McGarry (0-4), Conor McCaughey (0-2, 1 ’45).

Subs: Carl Foentjies for Clerkin (H-T), Francis Lynch for Brannigan (38 mins), Adam Cullen for Greenan (43), Marc Brennan for Connell, Paul Smyth for McKenna (both 48).

Our O’Duffy Cup team host Truagh in the league tomorrow night (Wednesday).

U-16: The Under-16s resume league action at home to Scotstown next Thursday.

U-14: The U-14 Division One team fell to a five-point defeat at home to Truagh last Thursday evening. The Harps led narrowly after an evenly-matched opening quarter, but Truagh gradually got on top to secure a 4-12 to 3-10 win. Next up for the lads is a home game against Inniskeen next Tuesday.

Team: Erikas Dikmonas; Andrew Lyden, Colin Peppard; Dylan Maguire, Lorcan O’Rourke, Oisín Fagan; Annan Conor, Stephen Ward; Adam O’Neill, Corey McArdle; Luke Coyle, Seán Conway.

U-12: Our Under-12 Division 1A team showed good character to come from behind and beat Castleblayney at home in our second league game last Saturday. Despite opening brightly, we were unable to take a number of goal chances and we had to settle for points by Eoghan McGinnity and Josh Maguire, although Terence McDonald then hit 1-1 to keep us in touch. Blayney pulled away, however, with a run of goals and we needed points from Adam McGarry (two), Terence and a goal from a free by Josh to stay within two at the break (2-6 to 4-2). Blayney also started the final period strongly, but goals by Dylan Ballantine and Joshua Clerkin and points by Joshua, Eoghan and Adam started our revival. Eoghan added another four points before the end and Adam and Dylan also chipped in, as our lads upped their game all over the pitch to secure a 4-15 to 4-7 win. We also got some fine scores in the middle third, with Brian McAteer and Jamie Coyle to the fore.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; James McKenny, Liam Conway (Capt.); Nathan Lavery, Dean Doherty; Tiarnán O’Rourke, Josh Maguire (1-1, 1-0f); Eoghan McGinnity (0-6, 1f, 1 ’45), Terence McDonald (1-2); Dylan Ballantine (1-1), Adam McGarry (0-4, 1f).

Subs used: Joshua Clerkin (1-1), Brian McAteer, Shay Cooney, Jamie Coyle.

Our Division 3B team got the afternoon off to a good start with a comprehensive win Scotstown. Jamie Coyle and Jamie Cooney led the scoring in the first half as we opened up a 5-4 to 0-4 advantage and they added to their totals after the restart, while Shay and Scott Cooney, Conor Treanor, Dean Conlon and Daragh Croarkin also got on the scoresheet. This was a fine team performance, with all our subs also making a positive impact.

Team and scorers: Tom; Mark McManus (Capt.), Ryan McSkeane; Scott Cooney (0-1), Che Treanor; Shay Cooney (0-2), Jake Mulhall; Jamie Cooney (4-1), Jamie Coyle (4-4, 1-3f); Dean Conlon (0-1), Conor Treanor (1-1).

Subs used: Evan Meehan, Eoin Clerkin, Morgan Coyle, Daragh Croarkin (0-1).

Ladies: In what was a quiet week on the footballing front, our senior team travelled to Lough Key Forest Park as part of a team-bonding adventure day. Great fun was had by all and those that travelled are now all facebook friends and BFFs. Let’s hope we can reproduce the competitiveness on the playing field! Thank you very much to Dearbhla for arranging this day and for organising the necessary changes when two eejits showed up late!
