Seniors: Our senior footballers had a 1-13 to 0-16 draw at home to Truagh last Wednesday evening. Two points each from Dónal Hahessy and Fearghal McMahon were disappointingly, our only scores from a high number of chances in the first half, and a more clinical Truagh team led by 0-8 to 0-4 at half-time. Despite points by Fearghal and Dónal, Truagh moved five clear by the end of the third quarter, but a Nicholas Treanor goal kick-started our comeback, before Fearghal and Dónal brought us level. Truagh retook the lead with three unanswered points, but well-taken scores by Conor Galligan (two) and Stephen Driver gave us a share of the spoils. Our next SFL game is against Castleblayney on Saturday week, May 31.

Team and scorers: Ashley White; Aodhán Óg McAnespie, David Hughes, Mustafa Gamal; Gareth Treanor, Conor Galligan (Capt., 0-2), Michael Galligan; Gary White, Nicholas Scott; Niall Greenan, Nicholas Treanor (1-0), Dónal Hahessy (0-5, 2f); Dean Fanning, Emmett McArdle, Fearghal McMahon (0-5, 1f).

Subs: Niall Treanor for G Treanor (inj., 20 mins), Stephen Driver (0-1) for Greenan (46), Conor Devlin for M Galligan (52), Cónall McKenna for D Hahessy (inj., 56).

We host Castleblayney this Saturday evening.

Reserves: Our McKeown Cup team moved into the championship semi-finals with a high-scoring win at home to Clones last Friday evening. A Niall Greenan goal opened the scoring and he went on to complete a hat-trick before the end of the first half, while Éimhín Morahan and James McKenna also found the net and points by Niall, Éimhín and Conor McCaughey made it 5-4 to 1-2 at half-time. Niall got the first point of the second half and Éimhín added a brace, before Gerard Gilsenan got his first goal. Sub David Loughran added his name to the list of scorers and although Clones got a couple of goals back, Gerard’s second major made the final score 7-9 to 3-4. We have a league game against Truagh tomorrow night (Wednesday).

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Aidan Connell, Niall Treanor; Conor Burns, Carl Foentjies, Conor Forde; James McKenna (1-0), Dónal McCarthy; Conor McCaughey (0-2, 1f), Niall Greenan (Capt., 3-3, 0-2f), Francis Lynch; Éimhín Morahan (1-3), Gerard Gilsenan (2-0).

Subs: John Mulligan for McCarthy (black card, 28 mins), Turlough Clerkin for McCaughey (black card, 42), Darren McMahon for Foentjies (45), Dessie McGarry for Greenan (50), David Loughran (0-1) for Lynch (52), Jason McHugh for McKenna (56).

An understrength O’Duffy Cup team fell to a 2-19 to 2-8 defeat away to Clontibret in the league on Sunday. We stayed in touch with Clontibret for most of the first half, with Ashley White kicking four points and Niall Greenan and Evan Doherty adding one each, but we fell away in the last few minutes to go in trailing by 1-8 to 0-6. Clontibret added a second goal straight after the restart and they added a string of points and although we managed an Éimhín Morahan point and 2-1 by Niall Greenan, it wasn’t enough to get back into the game. We host Magheracloone next Wednesday.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; John Mulligan, Niall Treanor, Turlough Clerkin; Conor Forde, Ashley White (Capt., 0-4, 3f), Brendan McQuaid; James McKenna, Evan Doherty (0-1); Éimhín Morahan (0-1), Michael Galligan, Ahmed Gamal; Ryan Shields, Conor McCaughey, Niall Greenan (2-2, 0-1f).

Subs: Dean McMahon for Gamal (H-T), A Gamal for McKenna (inj., 37 mins).

Darkness into Light: The planting of the ‘memory tree’, which Jenny Blackburn kindly donated for the Darkness into Light run, took place at our grounds last Friday, giving us a lasting memorial of the event in between the stand and the Canal Greenway. Thanks to everyone who attended.

U-16: Donaghmoyne conceded last Thursday, leaving our lads in a four-way tie at the top of the league. The exam break is now on until June 28.

U-14: The Under-14 Division Five team had a high-scoring win at home to Inniskeen on Monday evening. After an evenly-matched opening quarter, our lads started to pull away with Eoghan McGinnity, Terence McDonald, Erikas Dikmonas and Killian Conlon all on target. A one-sided final quarter saw Joshua Clerkin, Luke Coyle, Justas Dambinskas, Shane McCabe and Jamie McCarron all add their names to the list of scorers.

Panel: Domantas Damanauskas; Joshua Clerkin (1-0), Luke Coyle (0-1); Shane McCabe (1-1), Ryan Leonard; Killian Conlon (1-0), Justas Dambinskas (1-0); Conor McCarron, Terence McDonald (2-3), Eoghan McGinnity (1-4), Erikas Dikmonas (2-1), Jamie McCarron (1-0), Shea Treanor, Killian Treanor, Stephen McMahon, Oran Ó Caoláin.

Both of our Under-14 teams are at home to Carrickmacross this Saturday.

U-12: Our two Under-12 teams enjoyed the Spring League Finals in Cloghan last Saturday. The first game saw our second team go up against a strong Carrickmacross side. A Conor Treanor point, a goal by Deivydas Kaklauskas and 1-1 from Oisín Reilly kept us in touch early on, but Carrick finished the half strongly to open up a lead. Our lads played some excellent football in the non-competitive period, with Jamie Cooney making a big impact with some fine scores and he added a point in the final third, while Jamie Coyle, Scott Cooney and Conor also hit the target, but Carrick did enough to stay ahead.

Team and scorers: Tyler McCann; Mark McManus, Cian Brennan; Scott Cooney (0-1), Lukas Virfilas; Deivydas Kaklauskas (1-0); Dean Conlon (Capt.), Oisín Reilly (1-1, 0-1f); Jamie Coyle (1-2), Conor Treanor (0-2).

Subs used: Morgan Coyle, Jamie Cooney (0-1).

The first team then took on Castleblayney in another exciting game. Points by Terence McDonald, Nathan Lavery and Adam McGarry and an Eoghan McGinnity goal got us up and running and although Blayney stayed in touch throughout the opening period, Terence, Eoghan, Adam and Tiarnán O’Rourke kept the Harps scores coming. Eoghan, Adam, Terence and Tiarnán all added to their tallies in the final period to secure a hard-earned 0-18 to 0-15 victory. Tiarnán’s move to midfield and excellent defending by the likes of James McKenny and Liam Conway also made a key contribution, while Dean Doherty made his return to the team after missing the last three games.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Tiarnán O’Rourke (0-3, 1f), Liam Conway; James McKenny, Ryan McSkeane; Dean Doherty, Nathan Lavery (0-1f); Terence McDonald (Capt., 0-4, 2f), Eoghan McGinnity (1-4, 0-1f); Shay Cooney, Adam McGarry (1-4, 0-1f).

Subs used: Craig Cooney, Che Treanor.
