On Saturday 3^rd May both Monaghan hurling development squads took part in the first blitz of 2014. The venue was Monaghan Centre of Excellence. Teams from Longford, Cavan Fermanagh & Monaghan took part in the blitz.

The U16`s played Cavan in their first game. Monaghan started the strongest and by halftime were 3 points up. Again Monaghan pushed on and with time nearly up Monaghan were winning by 5 points, the lads maybe thought the game was over and they conceded a late goal and a point to come out with a one point win. In their second game the lads played Longford, who were a big strong looking team. In what proved to be a tight game throughout Longford ended up winning by 2 points.

The U14`s also played Cavan in their first game, with the concession of five goals being the thorn in Monaghans side. Monaghan tried their best to get back into the game but the hill proved too steep and Cavan ended up winning on a score line of 5:06 to 2:09. In the second match the lads played Longford and after tighten up the defence Monaghan only conceded one goal with some very good saves from Sean Kelly. Monaghan got a foothold of the game around the middle with Padraig Mc Gahon and Logan Mc Quillian winning the majority of puck outs. In the end Monaghan ran out comfortable winners.
