Killanny Notes

April 23rd, 2014

Juniors
Toome 0g 13p
Killanny 1g 13p
We made the short trip on Wednesday last to St Victors park and got full value for our money with a great sporting game. It was Toome that got on the scoreboard first with four points before we had a point followed quickly with a goal and four more points more points. Toomes replied with  3 points to bring the half time score to  1g 5p to 7p. We exchanged points in the 3,4,5, and 6 th minutes at the restart. We had three unanswered points before Toome had 3 points but we held on and took the spoils with a three point win
Cill Eanna 1g 16p
Killeevan  1g 9p
Another fantastic win for our boys in Pairc Eanna on Sunday last. This wins keeps us on top of the league table a position in which we savour every moment of as we have propped up the table for long and many a day.
Fixtures
We welcome Blackhill last years league and championship runner up to Pairc Eanna on Saturday evening next at 7oclock. This should make for good entertainment and we are expecting a good turn out to watch this game and are hoping that manager Andy has an injury free panel for this fixture.
Minors
Killanny 2g 14p
Scotstown 0g 13p
A fantastic display of football by Robert Berg, Dermot Leegan, Conor Vernon and Jack Kieran on the square with a total score of 2g 6p was head and shoulders above the rest and made it all look so easy ,simple high catching, simple free kicking, simple penalty taking, simple scoring and watch this space as we simply have a star in the making.
Under 16
The u16’s made the long trip to Sean mcdermott’s on Thursday evening to take on the home team in round 3 of the league.Cill Eanna started of the better and begun with a fine point from Conor Mathers, but the home team settled to their task and led at half time 1-3 to 3 points…Sean’s pushed on at the start of the second half, and led by 5 at one stage, but a steely resilience and good team spirit saw our boys claw their way back in,and a 58th minute goal from top scorer Daniel Leegan gave Killanny a 3 point lead,Sean’s equalised within 40 seconds, but good work from substitute Joshua Martin to find Conor Mathers who scored the winning point..Daniel Leegan 2-7…Conor mathers 0-2..Dean Connolly 0-1…final score Killanny 2-10 Sean’s 3-6…team mentors and players would like to wish Eddie Walsh a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing him back in the team…
Sympathy
We extend our deepest sympathy to Joe McConnon and the extended McConnon family on the death of Bernadette McConnon. Go ndeana Dia trocaire ar a anam dhilis.
