Senior Football

Currin played Scotstown away in Scotstown last Wednesday night in the S.F.L. Division One. This was always going to be a difficult assignment but with a depleted squad we were on the back foot right from the start.  After six minutes we were 2-3 behind and effectively the game was over. Scotstown dominated the rest of the game and were convincing winners on a score line of 4-18 to 0-8. Team and scorers:- Fergal Connolly, Cian North, Conor Mac Caffrey, Sean Brady, Dara Brady, Gerad O Callaghan, 0-1, Ben Clerkin, Dick Clerkin, 0-3 , Paddy Mc Dermott, Enda Mc Caffrey, 0-1, Niall Mac Entee, Ciaran Mac Caffrey,  Garett Beatty, Philip O Callaghan, 0-3f, Ciaran Kearns.  No games this weekend because of Monaghan’s involvement in the NFL final in Croke Park. All fixtures for senior and reserve teams are posted in the village. At the moment our next scheduled Div 1, fixture is away to Truagh on Friday 2nd May.

Reserve League Div 3

We were due to play Toome last night in Scotshouse, and Monaghan Harps next Wednesday night.

Youth Affairs

U-12’s

Our U-12’s host Scotstown on Friday evening in Scotshouse at 7.15 pm. (Please note the change of day). Our U-12 ‘shield’ team also take on Scotstown on Saturday morning in Scotshouse. Throw in for this game is at 12 noon. Your support for these two teams would be greatly appreciated.

U -16’s

Our amalgamation with Aghabog as Patrick Emmets had a great win over Doohamlet last week and in a very high scoring  game against Toome on Monday last they went down to a scoreline of 7-17 to 6-12. Cillian Martin in defence was excellent and up front Conor Beatty accounted for a lot of the scores. Kevin Murphy revelled in his outfield role and Oisin Mc Philips combined well with Terry Mc Entee along the left wing. Mark Murphy and Patrick Poynton made up the representation from Currin and we wish them continued success in the rest of their games. Training continues as usual.

Patrick Connolly

Patrick, who is one of our best supporters and Lotto sellers, is currently in strict training for the special Olympic Basketball team. He travels regularly to Belfast for his training and like all athletes this requires a lot of dedication and effort. To assist Patrick in his training a Quiz night will be held shortly and Currin GFC are urging all our members to show their support.
