Senior Football

Currin played in their second  S.F.L. Division One game on Saturday last in Monaghan away to the Harps. We started brightly and dominated early on and led by two points from Philp O Callaghan and Jack Mc Carron after six minutes. A rather fortuitous goal and three unanswered points saw the home side race into the lead but two Dick Clerkin points and a Philip O Callaghan free saw the deficit reduced to the minimum on twenty minutes.  However in the final ten minutes, another Harps goal and six unanswered points gave the homeside a commanding half time lead of ten points. In the second half we competed well and reduced the deficit to eight points in a battling display but in the end we had too big a mountain to climb with Jack scoring the only goal of the second  half. Final score line 1-12 to 2-17. Team and scorers:- Fergal Connolly, Dara Brady, Sean Brady, Enda Mac Caffrey , Gerad O Callaghan, Conor Mac Caffrey, Michael Quigley, Dick Clerkin, 0-2, Ciaran Mac Caffrey,  Cian North, Jack Mac Carron, 1-4,3f, Paddy Mc Dermott , Niall Mac Entee, 0-1, Philip O Callaghan, 0-5,3f, Francis O Callaghan.  We were due to play Scotstown last night, Wednesday, in Scotstown and because of Monaghan’s involvement in the NFL final our two games with Truagh and Castleblayney have been rescheduled. All fixtures are posted in the village.
