A very enjoyable presentation evening was held in the clubrooms on Saturday last to celebrate the achievements of our players at both club and county level in 2013 and to honour a number of retiring club officers who have given great service over the years.

First up all present were welcomed by Club Secretary Frank McManus who introduced the guests and the O’Duffy Cup medals were then presented to the winning Reserve Championship team captained by Rodney Gorman as well as a trophy to Team Manager Damien Moen.  The player of the year awards for 2013 were presented by Club Chairman Colm Gormley as follows; Young Player of the Year Darren McDonnell, Reserve Player of the Year, Brian Greenan and Senior Player of the Year, Martin Corey. This was followed by presentations to retiring club officers to mark their contribution to the club over the past number of years, including Declan Moen, Vice Chairman 2009-2013, Michael McSkeane, Assistant Treasurer 2005-2013 and Kieran Lavelle, treasure 2005-2013 with both secretary and chairman complimenting all three for their work on behalf of the club over a long number of years.

The contribution of our players to the success of our county teams at both senior and minor level was then recognised with each, Vincent Corey, Conor McManus and Dessie Mone at senior level as well as Michael P O’Dowd and Aodh Curran at minor level being presented with an inscribed photograph to mark the occasion, a copy of which will also be displayed in the clubrooms.

Following this the Chairman made a special presentation to our All Star, Conor McManus to mark his particular achievements during 2013 which in addition to the All Star award, Ulster and League success include a M Donnelly Interprovincial medal and a Man of the Match performance in Irelands victory over Australia in the International Rules series. Conor was presented with an inscribed photographic memento of his achievements in 2013 which will also take pride of place on the wall of our clubrooms.

Winding up the proceedings Colm remarked that while the disappointment of the county final defeat still rankles, we are all very proud of the achievements of our players at all levels and especially those who brought such great honour to our club during the year  at the highest level.
