Coaching Courses in Corduff, Magheracloone and Killeevan

Level One Youth and Adult Killeevan

Over the past number of weeks, Monaghan Coaching and Games Development have ran two very successful Coaching Courses in Corduff and Killeevan and are currently undertaking a midweek course in Magheracloone.

On Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th of February, Corduff ran a Foundation Level Award in their grounds. 22 coaches completed the award after a very enjoyable two days. The course offers the participants a chance to develop a broad knowledge of coaching skills and tips that they can implement in their own club settings. Modules included Child Protection, Skill Development, Movement Skills, Inclusion and Integration and much more. All the modules had both a practical and a theoretical aspect. Michael Henry, Paul O’Connor and Colin Malone where the tutors for the course.

Magheracloone Mitchells are currently hosting a Foundation Level Award. On Monday the 17th of February Michael Henry delivered the Child Protection Module while Colin Malone and Pauric Dowdall will be delivering the other modules of the course over the next two Wednesday nights (26th February and 5th of March).

Last weekend (21st/ 22nd/ 23rd of February) 24 coaches gathered in Killeevan to complete the Level One Youth and Adult award in Gaelic Football. The course covered a wide range of topics from developing coaching principals to learning about topics such as technical proficiency, tactical prowess and team play. By all accounts the coaches came away from the weekend all the more wiser and hopefully we will see them develop their coaching skills further over the coming season when they get stuck into coaching teams within their own clubs and schools. Paul O’Connor, Garrett Coyle and Eamon O’Hara led the course.

We would like to thank Corduff, Magheracloone and Killeevan for hosting the courses in their fine facilities and also thanks to the clubs for getting their coaches to attend the courses. We know it can be hard to get people to attend the courses and we appreciate the amount of time and effort that clubs went to make sure their coaches attended the courses.

Over the next month Monaghan Coaching and Games will be running further courses. On Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th of March Cloghan will be the venue for a Foundation Award in either Football or Hurling. Alternatively Monaghan Harps are hosting a Foundation Award on Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd of March. Both courses have limited spaces available so If you would like to complete and Foundation Level then please get in contact with Paul O’Connor on 0868374827 or you can email him on developmentmanager.monaghan@gaa.ie.
