Ladies Notes 13/02/14

AGM: We held our AGM last Friday night with a smaller attendance than expected.  Maggie opened the meeting and thanked all for their attendance on a miserable night. Paddy gave a detailed financial report, also stating that he was not seeking re-election. Shauna, give a brief report as she took the secretary’s job late in the year. Maggie started her chairpersons’ address stating that the club had been very active throughout the year with affiliated members completing fundamentals, coaching course, club officers’ course and also first aid course. Although we had no underage success, all grades competed in competitions, except for minors. This brought her on to the successful season that our senior team had and congratulated them on claiming the Intermediate championship title. This came after a lot of hard work from management and players. She reflected on the Ulster semi-final defeat to Grange and the disappointment felt throughout the club.  Finally she thanked all the club officers for their help throughout the year and wished all teams and managements success for the coming season.

The committee remained on for another year with a new-comer, Siobhan, taking on the Treasurer’s job.

Presentation Night: A good night was had on Saturday night with the presentations of Intermediate championship medals. This was held in conjunction with the men’s presentation night.  Siobhan, our newly elected treasurer, made the presentation to Paddy Greenan, who retired after 13 years in the financial “hot seat”.  Also there was a special presentation to Sean Gavan, who stepped down as senior manager. We wish both parties well in the future and I am assured they are only a phone-call away if needed.

Congratulations: To Marion Shiels who got engaged recently.

Speedy recovery: To Ellen McCarron, who was hospitalised recently.

Congrats: to our county team and the Aghabog representatives, who defeated Laois last Sunday.
