Rockcorry Notes

January 10th, 2014

Happy New YearI hope Santa was good to you all and brought you just what you needed? He took care of me…ho,ho,ho! Anyway, a New Year has arrived and with it new challenges but also plenty of opportunities. A new year symbolises a new beginning of a better tomorrow. It is the time of year to cherish the good memories and forget every bad memory of the past twelve months and start again. The positive nature of the club within our community is special and it’s up to every single person within the club, or indeed within the community to ensure that the club, your club, remains at the forefront of this wonderful Association. Let’s all work together and look forward to a good year ahead and on behalf of the club I wish you and your families a safe and happy new year filled with new hope, new joy and new beginnings and I hope that your dreams and aspirations all come true throughout the year.

Annual Yearbook 2013 I want to thank everyone for their kind comments towards last year’s annual yearbook entitled “Our Journey”. The response and support is deeply appreciated. A gentle reminder that if you haven’t already bought a copy of the yearbook we have a limited number of copies available so if anybody is interested in buying a copy then please get in touch.  It costs a reasonable €20  and is jammed with information and features over 400 pages, full colour, and contains some amazing photographs of our historic and remarkable journey through senior football. It is a pictorial account, an album of memories that follows the ups and downs, laughter and tears, victories and defeats of the men, boys and girls wearing the ‘Green & White’ jersey during 2013 and is something to treasure for many years to come. The yearbook also contains a selection of photographs taken from other events held over the year and I hope the images I have chosen will leave a lasting impression. If you are interested in buying a copy of the yearbook please send me a text message 086-1041165 or an email to pro.rockcorry.monaghan@gaa.ie confirming your name and details.

Committee Positions Vacant The management committee is open to all who wish to sit on the committee or indeed any of our sub-committees. New faces, new opinions, new ideas are the lifeblood of any club and with your input the possibilities of today can be achieved tomorrow. At our annual general meeting the positions of Assistant Treasurer, Cultural Officer and ASAP Officer were not filled. We are now looking to co-opt members to fill these important roles. If any club member is interested in taking up any of these roles or perhaps sitting on the management committee please get in touch. The bottom line folks, and its quit simple, the future of the club is in our own hands. Everything that we do today or indeed everything we don’t do will have a serious impact on the performance of the club in the future. It’s you club, get involved.

HELP – The success of the club is built on the willingness of people to become involved. We are on the lookout for juvenile managers & coaches to help out with our underage teams. The club simply cannot operate without plenty of help and we are appealing to people especially parents to volunteer their services to help out with our juvenile teams. You do not have to be an expert and you will be instructed by an experienced coach, but please come forward and volunteer. You may be able to spare one hour on a Saturday morning or one evening per week to supervise at training sessions, or maybe at a game. Whatever you can do please do come forward and offer your help as we need as many people as possible. You never know you may enjoy it and your children will certainly benefit from it.

Club Sponsorship – It is always pleasing to see that during these tough economic times there are companies or individuals willing to help the club and we are very grateful for the continued support and sponsorship from individuals over the years. We are always open to new and exciting proposals and are always on the look-out for opportunities to develop new and exciting partnerships with companies or individuals who are interested in helping the club so that we can achieve our objective.  Whether it is sponsoring a set of jerseys for the senior or juvenile teams, providing after match refreshments for the nursery players or sponsoring a prize for a raffle we would be delighted to hear from you. In return we would happily give you or your company credit at any event and promote your brand on our website which now has a large world-wide audience. Please get in touch. Don’t always wait to be asked!!!

Fundraising for 2014 – Do you have any new fundraising ideas? Can you improve on our current ones? If so we’d be delighted if you could forward any ‘light bulb’ moments for the coming year.
