Our Lady’s Barry Kerr Receives Colleges All-Star

Gaelic Games in Our Lady’s Secondary School Castleblayney received a great boost before Christmas when it was announced that Barry Kerr had been selected at right corner back on the Ulster Colleges All-Star team of 2013/20014, the ultimate individual award in Ulster Colleges football. Barry from the Cremartin Shamrocks club received this award on the basis of his performance in two trial games in which he competed against players from all over Ulster. Throughout both games Barry displayed his excellent footballing ability as well as a keen work ethic and shrewd positional sense. Receiving awards come as second nature to this fine athlete who has won several underage titles with his club, as well as been a member of Co. Development squads and is currently on the Co. Minor football panel.

This is Our Lady’s fifth Colleges All-Star the last been Jason Murphy in 2012. The school Principal Mr. Mc Guill described the news as ‘a fitting and deserving award for an extremely talented and committed player’. Barry is the son of Ciaran and Ann Kerr from Annyalla, Cremartin. Barry’s mother Ann is interestingly the holder of two ladies GAA All Star awards.

Barry attended a media launch for all award recipients in the Merchant Hotel Belfast on Monday December 16th and he will receive his award at a specially organised function in the Europa Hotel Belfast on April 11th.
