Jim Kelly R.I.P
While our tribute in last week’s notes to the late Jim Kelly  were confined to his role in the Aghabog jersey in the late 1950’s and early 60’s, perhaps it was in 1961 that Jim’s greatest triumphs came. Ironically it was a year that his home team did not affiliate a team and four players were transferred to Tyholland, namely Jim, Macartan Murphy, Frankie McCabe and Gerry Brady, R.I.P.
Tyholland won their first Co. Board trophy, the  Dr. Ward Cup, and the Gold Flake Tournament in what was a great year for them. We have sourced 2 photographs of the winning teams from that season, these can be seen on Aghabog website. When Tyholland  celebrated the 50th aniversary of that historic win, Jim and Frankie were among the honoured guests. The Tyholland club were represented at Jim’s funeral as his coffin was draped in the Aghabog colours at the removal from his home, with a guard of honour of former and present footballers at the Church .  A couple of years ago Jim given a Hon. Vice President position in recognition of his services to the club.
