Lotto. The numbers drawn in the Club Lotto this weekend were 3, 11, 21 and 24. The jackpot was not won and the four winners of the Lucky Dip were Francis Hanratty, Magheracloone, Nuala McMahon, Rahans Lake, C. O, Burns, Crumlin and Maureen Coyle. Congratulations to all the winners. The next draw will take place in the clubrooms on Monday 14th October and the Jackpot will be 4,100 euro. You can play the Magheracloone Club Lotto online by visiting the club website www.magheracloonemitchells.ie. You can choose a number of lines and play for either six or twelve months. You will be in each draw and will be supporting the club at the same time.

Pitch Development.  The work continues with the laying of the special Lough Neagh sand.  The sand has now been spread on the pitch and it is hoped that seeding can take place before the winter weather sets in.

The website and/or the clubs face book page will keep members up to date with progress.

Senior League. The league series finishes this weekend with a visit to Latton.  Magheracloone holds its fate in its own hands and a victory on Sunday should almost guarantee a place in the semi-final. However, nothing can be certain until the last round of games is completed. The team would appreciate your support as it attempts to retain the league title in 2013.

The game is fixed for this Sunday at 2.30 in Latton. Come along and support the team in their push for a league semi-final spot.

Minor Division 1 Championship Final

Magheracloone went into the Championship Final in Clones with great expectations. The team was under pressure throughout the game from a very strong Carrickmacross side.. The half time score was 0-6 to 1-4 with the Magheracloone scores coming from Alan Mc Cahey and captain Paudie Kirk. The game was evenly poised at this stage. Magheracloone came out strongly in the second half and after fifteen minutes the team was two points in front. Then a goal for the Carrickmacross boys laid the ground work for their late win. Second half points came from Cieran Mc Clory, Richard Merrin, Oisin Conroy, Alan Mc Cahey and Paudie Mc Mahon.

Best wishes go to Sean Mc Clory who missed out on the final due to injury. All in the club wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him kicking a ball again soon.

The players and mentors would like to thank their families, friends and supporters for all their encouragement and support up to and including the final. Many thanks also to Dympna and P. J. Mc Ardle for sponsoring the delicious food and to those who sponsored the team’s tracksuits.

U13 Football 7-a-side Floodlight Blitz

On Thursday week last nineteen clubs took part in an Under-13 football 7 a side blitz in Cloghan. This proved to be an excellent night for football weather-wise and the action on the field was just as good. Each club that participated on the night played a minimum of four games. In Magheracloone’s group were Carrickmacross, Clontibret, Castleblayney and  Donaghmoyne. Magheracloone won all four games and finished top in the group. In the Cup Final the team met a tough and solid team from Aughnamullen. This was a very competitive game featuring two well- matched teams.  In the last few minutes, Magheracloone took the lead and emerged victorious in the final. They collected their gold medals and also won a set of juvenile goals for the club.

Many  thanks to the mentors Patrick Marron and  Eugene Mc Mahon, Monaghan Coaching and  Games Development staff and  the referees for a very enjoyable night.

Team: Connor Mc Keown (Captain), Daniel Mc Connon, Frances Lambe, Liam Óg Murray, Matthew Kieran, Dylan Mc Cahey, Ciarán Mc Mahon, Dylan Mc Cahey, Jack Doogan & Davin Martin.
