Minor Division 1 Championship Final
Magheracloone 0-1 1
Carrickmacross 3-10
Magheracloone played this County Championship Final with great expectations of coming away with a win. Throughout the game we were under pressure at midfield in return leaving our backs overloaded. The half time score was 0-6 to 1-4 for Carrickmacross with Magheracloone scores coming from Alan Mc Cahey & Captain Paudie Kirk. The game was evenly poised at this stage. The second half Magheracloone came out with intent and after fifteen minutes we were 2 points in front only to be rocked by a goal for Carrickmacross which laid the ground work for their win. Second half points came from Cieran Mc Clory, Richard Merrin, Oisin Conroy, Alan Mc Cahey and Paudie Mc Mahon.
Best wishes go to Sean Mc Clory who missed out on the final due to injury, Sean was a detrimental loss to the team in the final and we wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him kicking ball again soon.
The players and mentors would like to thank their families, friends and supporters for all their encouragement and support up to and including the final. We would also like to thank Dympna & PJ Mc Ardle for sponsoring the delicious food and a massive thank you must go to those who sponsored our tracksuits. Finally we would like to congratulate Carrickmacross on their win and we wish them well in the Ulster Minor Championship.

U13 Football 7-a-side Floodlight Blitz
On Thursday last 19 clubs took part in an U13 football 7 a side blitz in Cloghan. This proved to be an excellent night for football weather wise and the action on the field was just as good. Each club that participated on the night played a minimum of 4 games. In Magheracloones group were Carrickmacross, Clontibret, Castleblayney & Donaghmoyne. We won all four games and played tremendous football. Having finished top in the group we progressed to the Cup Final where we met a tough & solid team from Aughnamullen. This was a very competitive game with two well matched teams, however in the last few minutes Magheracloone stretched their lead and emerged victorious in the final. They collected their gold medals and also won a set of juvenile goals for the club.
We would like to thank our mentors Partick Marron & Eugene Mc Mahon, Monaghan Coaching & Games Development staff & the referee’s for a very enjoyable night.
Team: Connor Mc Keown (Captain), Daniel Mc Connon, Frances Lambe, Liam Óg Murray, Matthew Kieran, Dylan Mc Cahey, Ciarán Mc Mahon, Dylan Mc Cahey, Jack Doogan & Davin Martin.
