New Adult Team League. The fixtures committee are drawing up the adult club team tomorrow night(Friday) and we are returning to a 4 man team format for the Mono League this year and also will be running a 1, 2, 3 & 4 man league along side the team league, this will mean that players will be playing for themselves to gain points for a win as well as playing for the 42 points for your team, so this will leave the last players going in even though the game might be up for their team they still have to play for the 2 points for their own graded league, which will be used for relegation and promotion for next year’s league, we hope this will leave all games more exciting and competitive, anyone interested about getting back into action or thinking of taking up the sport must forward your name and details to Kevin before tomorrow night.

Juvenile Blitz. The juvenile county championships are being brought forward this year possibly in the 2nd weekend of November, as we are limited in the amount of players that we can enter into each grade 6 in U12 and 4 in the rest of grades U13-Minor, we were going to run a blitz on Saturday & Sunday the 20th but due to the football final on Sunday we will move all to the following weekend, we will play the U13’s on Friday the 25th  @ 6:30pm and the U12’s will be on Saturday the 26th starting @ 12am, any player that wants to be playing in the county championships please be down on those dates to try and secure your place, we will be looking at other age groups to sort those out also but players will be contacted, so it is very important that all players get out and start practicing, we will also be using the blitz to gather membership (5 Euros), and only players that have paid their membership and that have received a receipt will be able to take part in the county championships. Girls are not an issue here, as all girls in the club will be entered in the county championships (Please note the change of Date)

Handball Beginners U8-U10. We have started the beginners and the players that have already played before from the ages of 8 to 10, this will take place every Friday evening from 7:45-8:30pm, we were going from 7-8pm but there is hurling in Carrickroe from 6:30 to 7:30 so some players might want to avail of both outings, we will use this time slot for a few weeks to see how many old and new members we have so we can organise coaching for these young players on a particular evening around the other juvenile coaching and leagues. (Please note the change of time)

Club Meeting. We have our next club meeting set for Monday coming the 21st of October @ 8pm in St.Mellans.

Good Luck. The Handball Club would like to wish all the footballers and the coaching staff all the best in the final on Sunday, good luck to everyone involved.

HARPS HANDBALL

There is great competition at present to decide on the entries to the juvenile county championships.  In particular we have at least nine players in contention for the 6 allowed entries in the Under 12 age group. The number 2 position at present is between Tiernan O’Rourke and Deivydas Kaklauskas with the former as slight favourite.  Position number 4 belongs firmly to 9 year-old Ailandas Jocys.  The final two places will be difficult to fill such is the degree of competition between James Allen, Lucas Virsilis and Seán Callen.  Of course there are other players who could upset these predictions.
Our number one and two seeds in the Under 13 section will be Jakub Szkup and Konrad Kowal.  At Under 14 level we will be entering Cailean Myles, Justas Dambinskas and Hubert Sheinbach..  We will have no entries in the Under 15 section and limited entries at Under 16 and 17 levels.
The Golden Gloves tournament will be held in Belfast on the weekend ofNovember 1st.  We will have at least two entries in this competition.  Congratulations to Ramunas on a great display in the Ulster colleges 60×30 competition recently.  Caileán Myles also represented his college St.Macartan’s in the same competition.
For the first time in many years we will be entering a team of 4 in the All-Ireland  club competition.  The team is made up of Conor Mc Donnell, Martin Mc Entee, Terry Mc Elvaney and Ramunas Ramanauskas.
