Drumhowan

By fmctiernan Wed 2nd Oct

Seniors   Drumhowan 1-8  Tyholland 0-11  We snatched a last gasp draw against Tyholland on Sunday morning last. A cooly slotted penalty from Colm Lambe in injury time gave us a share of the spoils a result that looked unlikely for most of the second half. The team played well in the 1st half and we went in a point up at half time. However Tyholland gained the upper hand in most areas in the second period and only for some poor finishing they would have been out of sight. Still Drumhowan never gave up.   Our two final games are both away to Donaghmoyne and Cremartin.

Minors   St Pats play Donaghmoyne away in the league semi final on Sunday next at 4pm.  The team have done well to reach this stage of the competition and best wishes to the players and the management of Dermott Mc Dermott, Niall Mc Adam and Cathal Hand. We again appeal for good support for the team.

U13 Floodlight Blitz will take place in Cloghan on Thursday next October 10th at 7pm.
U10 Terence Reilly Blitz . We took part in this tournament run by the Rockcorry club on Saturday afternoon last. We had games against Rockcorry and Aghabog and lost both games by the narrow margin of two points. We were missing a few regulars and fielded a young side with six under eight players. Well done to the players in what were very close and competitive games. Afterwards the players were presented with medals and hot food was provided for all teams in St Marys Hall afterwards. Thanks very much to the Rockcorry club for an enjoyable afternoon and their hospitality.

U8 / U11 V Crossmaglen – We travel to Crossmaglen this Sunday morning for an 11am start to take on the mighty Rangers at both under 8 and under 11 age groups. The players have been looking forward all summer for the opportunity to test themselves against one of the countrys best clubs. A bus will depart from Ballybay Tech School at 10am and it will return at 1pm. Can all players and parents please make a special effort to attend this fixture.

Taekwondo – This take place in the Centre on Friday evenings from 6-7pm and is open to children from 5 to 14 years old. With the football season winding down this is a good way of keeping your children active and fit. It also helps their balance, agility and co-ordination. Its free of charge for a few weeks so come along and try it out.

Car Park – Well done to all concerned on the tarmacing job done on the Front section of the car park. There are some works still to be completed but its looking well at this stage. Parking meters will be installed later this week.

Good luck and Bon Voyage to our PRO Megan Finnegan who departed on Tuesday for a year to Australia. So that means we are on the lookout for a PRO. Anyone interested please contact contact Donal or Noel.

Good luck also to our neighbours Blackhill in the Junior Final this weekend.
