DOOHAMLET GFC Club Notes

Senior League:  Doohamlet 1-09 Monaghan Harps 1-16

A late surge from the away side saw them take the two league points in this entertaining league game at a windswept O Neill park on Sunday last. Doohamlet played with the wind in the first half and built a commanding lead with fine scores from Paul McArdle Greg Duffy Mark Murphy Colin Walshe and Barry McBennett. James Casey was in fine form in the Doohamlet goal and at the other end Paul McArdle and Colin Walshe were causing all sorts of problems for the Harps defence and these two players combined for the opening goal when Paul McArdle fired to the net to give the home side a half-time lead 1-07 to 0-06.

Harps with more possession and the strong wind in the second half gradually eat into Doohamlets lead and went in front in the final minutes. Doohamlet were off target with a couple of late chances but the Harps held out for a hard earned win. Credit to Doohamlet for a commendable performance and with only 1 league game left we can look back on a satisfactory year and look forward to another season in Senior ranks.
