Seniors
We played Corduff in the league at home on Saturday night last. This was a tough game where we had to ‘dig deep’ to ensure victory. After a very shaky start we were behind at half time but a better performance in the second half saw us edge home on the scoreline of 0-17 to 2-8. Team and scorers:- Fergal Connolly, Enda Mc Caffrey, Sean Brady, Dara Brady (0-1), Ben Clerkin, Conor Mc Caffrey, Gerard O Callaghan, Dick Clerkin, (0-2), Ciaran Mc Caffrey(0-1), Shane O Connor, Philip O Callaghan (0-6), Ciaran Kearns, Paddy Mc Dermott, Jack Mc Carron, (0-6), Niall McEntee (0-1), Subs used, Michael Quigley for Ciaran Mc Caffrey. We will play Truagh in the Championship semi-final on Saturday next in Clontibret, as the second match of a double header, so be aware of possible traffic congestion. A big support is called for, throw in is at 4.30 p.m.
Ladies Football
There was bitter dissappointment on Sunday last when our Ladies were beaten by a single point in the All Ireland final. There is no consolation in stating that they were beaten by possibly one of the best ever teams in Ireland in any code over the past decade, Cork. Our girls are no doubt devastated by the margin and nature of the defeat but should take great satisfaction from the enjoyment they have brought to us all in this very exciting summer of 2013. Ellen Mc Carron and Laura Boylan were our representatives and we congratulate them for their achievements and look forward to next year when the win will be all the more sweeter.
