Thank you to the Scotstown club for all their efforts in hosting the game, thanks also to all the people who came and supported us on the day, best wishes to Gerard McArdle for a speedy recovery after he picked up a serious injury. A penalty in the 28th minute separated the sides after what was a poor first half in terms of quality with both sides passing up good scoring opportunities; however there was no lack of effort. Half time Blackhill 0-03 Emyvale 1-03. We started the second half in blistering fashion with Philip Donnelly finishing a superb Darren Woods pass to the net. The game improved and the football was much better after the interval with some outstanding points scored from play by both teams, Dermot Daly’s effort probably the pick of the Blackhill scores. Blackhill chased the game down in the third quarter and showed great character to get back on terms and take the lead in injury time. A pressure free scored by Marty McAree drew the game in stoppage time and nobody could argue that a draw was a fair enough result on the day. Philip Donnelly was a deserving man of the match, Michael Shevlin was superb in goals and all the boys seemed to improve as the game went on as we finished strongly. The replay will take place in Gratton Park Inniskeen on Saturday night at 7PM. We again wish all the players and management the very best of luck in the replay. “Hon the ‘Hill!”
