Senior Boys Secondary School 7 a-side Blitz
On Wednesday 25th September Monaghan Coaching & Games Development Committee & Coaching staff held their annual Senior Boys 7 a side Secondary School Football Blitz. The evening proved to be another success with St Macartans winning the cup competition & Patrician High School Carrickmacross victorious in the shield competition. The competition started with a round robin format with each team in the cup and shield competitions playing each other one, with the top 2 teams in each group going through to the final.
Groups were as follows;
Cup; Castleblayney College, ballybay,Patrician High Schools,Our Ladys Castleblayney &St macartans.
Shield; St Macartans , Inver College, Patrician High School, Colaiste Oiriall & Castleblayney College.
In the cup Our Ladys Castleblayney & St Macartans Collage progressed to the final and in the sheild Inver College & Patrician High School made it through to the final. Both finals were very competitive with some excellent 7’s football on show. In the cup St Macartans overall strength and depth proved too strong for a gallant Our Lady’s team and after extra time Patrician High School emerged winners in a local derby game against Inver College.
Monaghan Coaching & Games Development Committee & Coaching staff would like to thank all the schools/teachers/players who took part & the referee’s for ensuring the evening was a success. Finally good luck to all the schools in their respective school competitions that they will play in this coming year.
