Magheracloone notes

Lotto

The numbers drawn on Monday 9th September were 6, 13, 23 and 28.  The jackpot was not won and the four winners of the Lucky Dip were: 1) John Tully Meath Hill , 2) Gerry Magee CMX, 3) David Kirk 4) Ronan Freeman The next draw will take place in the clubrooms on Monday 16th Sept and the Jackpot will be €3,700. If you are currently not supporting the club lotto, you can now play Magheracloone Club Lotto Online by visiting the Club Website www.magheracloonemitchells.ie It’s safe and secure. You have the option of playing 1, 2, 3 etc……lines for either 6mths or 12mths. This way you know you are in the draw every week and supporting your local gaa club at the same time.

U-8’s

The last training session for 2013 took place last Thursday evening. The mentors which included, Dermot Farrelly, Padraig Doogan, Declan McConnon, Padraig Duffy, Eddie Kelly, Eamon  Mc Keown and Declan Farrelly thanked the kids and parents for showing up in large numbers to training, challenges and to blitz games. A big word of thanks goes to Gavin Doogan for taking time out to present the kids with medals and certs. All kids got their photo’s taking with the Ulster Championship Cup. In addition the mentors thanked Paul O’Connor and the Monaghan Juvenile coaching staff for the time they spent coaching the mentors and players during the year. Final blitz of the year is in Clones on Saturday 14th in Clones starting at 12noon to 2pm.

U-10’s

Training continues for U-10s every Wednesday from 7pm – 8pm and will do so for the month of September. Our U10-s will attend the final blitz for the year in Clones on Saturday 14th from 12:00 noon – 2:00pm.

 

U-12’s

On Saturday last our U12’s were victorious against Scotstown in the Division 1 shield final.  It was goals all the way with Captain Ryan Mc Nulty showing leadership all over the pitch and cracking in 6 goals and scoring two points as Magheracloone claimed the title with a well merited 7-5 to 1-8 win. Joseph Kirk gave a great display in goals pulling off some fine saves. Jack Doogan who advanced from the back line to score a point along with Jamie Lambe they played tremendous football throughout the match denying the many Scotstown advances. Halfbacks Shane Burns and Matthew Kieran worked hard as their team took a decisive grip on the match. Grace Kieran was outstanding as usual in midfield winning possession along with Jordan Duffy. Ronan Mc Keown with a score of 1-2 won a lot of ball  dominating his man and set up some great scores. Ryan Farrelly and Loughlan Toner played a major part winning the ball and distributing it to the forwards. In the end our better balanced side came home with the silverware.

U-14’s

On Monday evening last our U14s played Emyvale in the semi-final of the Division 1 shield competition. This was a very close game up until the last 10 minutes when Magheracloone took the upper hand.They went on to win the game on a scoreline of 4-16 to 1-14. U-16’s

Our U-16’s play Cremartin in the Division 2 League Final. This final will be played Thursday 12th September @ 7.30pm in Emyvale.

Minor Championship Fixture

The Championship semi final will take place on Saturday 21st September @ 16:30pm in Aughnamullen. Monaghan Harps V Magheracloone.

Senior Championship

On Sunday 15th September Magheracloone v Doohamlet in round 2B of the Senior Football Championship. The venue is Clontibret with throw in time 1:30pm. We would encourage all of you to support this team as we bid for the Mick Duffy Cup.

Charity Cycle

On Monday last Doran Motors presented a cheque for 500 euros to Magheracloone  Care of the Aged and Magheracloone GFC towards their joint Fundraising Cycle which takes place on Saturday 14th September from Galway to Magheracloone. Doran Motors are the leading suppliers of Mazda, Hyundai & Skoda cars in the North East. Skoda are world-wide supporters of cycling. At approx. 9.30am on the morning of Sat 14th Sept, thirty brave local people made up of Club Members, Parishioners & Cycling enthusiasts will leave Co.Galway and make the 155km trek to Knocknacran, in Magheracloone where they will be greeted by supporters, family & friends at approx.. 7pm outside the Community Centre. Proceeds from the Cycle will go to both Care of the Aged and

Magheracloone GFC Pitch Development Fund. There are also other activities planned for the day including a juvenile disco in the centre from 5pm-7pm, BBQ,  4 x Ulster Cups on display for both young and old to get their photo taken with if they wish. 7pm –> Cyclists arrive to rapturous homecoming by friends and supporters . 7 – 8pm –> Drumlins play, including their iconic track ‘White and Blue of Farney’.  8pm till late –> Bar opens. 9 pm- 12am –> ‘Great Pretenders’ on stage, make sure to bring your dancing shoes. 12midnight –> Auction including signed Senior Mens & Ladies and Minor Monaghan Jerseys. 12midnight – 2am –> DJ to dance the night away.
