U-12’S: Pride of place goes to our under 12’s who won the Div.3a Shield final on Saturday last. Team captain Daragh Ruddin gave a man of the match display and led his team to a thrilling 6-14 to 6-07 victory. Nathan Casey was very good in goals and with Jack McElroy and Dillon Duffy who were both outstanding in defence making many interceptions. Our midfield trio of Cillian Walshe, Jack Traynor and Daniel Connolly were a joy to watch with their inter passing and skill on the ball. Ciaran Markey, Richard Farkas and Eddie Coleman were a constant threat to Oram defence and Eddie Coleman proved to be the match winner with his goals in the last third. Young Shane McBennett, Joseph Ryan and Mark Burns all contributed to a memorable victory. Well done to mentors Ciaran Walshe, Noeleen McBennett and Joanne Loughman on having their team in top shape.
Congrats to All.
U8/U12: Our U8 boys and U12 girls also had an outing at Aghabog sports day on Sunday last. Well done to Marie Duffy and her fellow mentors for giving up their time organising and coaching these youngsters.
Youth Teams: Our juvenile teams are facing a busy schedule over the next couple of weeks with the U14’s, U16’s and Minors all in semi-finals and finals.
We hope as many supporters can attend these games and give the boys your support. Great to see such a small club compete in the latter stages of these competitions and great credit to all the players and coaches. The future is looking good.
U14’s: Our U14’s will play their league semi-final against Latton on Monday evening next at home with a throwin time of 6.30pm
U16’s: Doohamlet U16’s play their league final on Saturday next 7th at 2.30pm in Aughnamullen. They play an amalgamated side Currin/Aghabog.
Minors: Doohamlet 1-18 Corduff 1-15
Doohamlet minors reached the Championship final with a hard earned win against Corduff at Toome on Tuesday evening last. A great performance from our lads who now look forward to a final against St. Tiarnachs which is a Clones/Eire Óg amalgamated team. All Minor players must attend training and prepare properly for this final.
More details on this game later.
Senior Championship: Our senior team must do it all again as even after extra time both Doohamlet and Carrick finished all square at 1-17 each. Both sides enjoyed periods of domination but neither team could deliver the knockout blow. Carrick appeared to have the game won in normal time but Colin Walshe crashed to the net to level the game and take it to extra time. Both sides traded scores in the extra period but neither team could be separated at the final whistle. See match report.
Replay will take place on Sunday next again in Inniskeen with a 1.30pm throwin.
Best wishes to our midfield general Ciaran McManus who sustained a knee injury during the game and is extremely doubtful for the replay.
All Ireland Football 7’s: Doohamlet will represent Monaghan in the All Ireland Intermediate Football 7’s hosted by Ratoath GAA Club on Saturday 21st September.
