Castleblayney notes

September 8th, 2013

Lotto – There was no winner of the €11000 jackpot this week which was held on Monday night the 02nd of September. The numbers drawn were 02, 06, 09, 24. The 4 lucky dips of €50 were Pat &Sarah Mackin, Brian McGuinness and Cracker McHugh, Kevin Mallon, C/O Supervalu and Caoimhe Kennedy, Culloville.  Congratulations to this week’s winners and thank you for your continued support.

Seniors – The Seniors bowed out of the championship after a narrow one point loss to Magheracloone after extra-time last Saturday night. Blayney started brightly and an early Ciaran Hanratty goal saw us lead but the rest of the first half was dominated by M’Cloone who led by three at the break. A more determined Blayney came out for the second half and a rare Cormac Brady goal and an injury time free from Mark Hanratty seemed to have seen Blayney home but a late late Magheracloone point took us to extra-time. Scoring was to be at a premium in extra-time and a Magheracloone goal was ultimately to be Blayneys undoing. Although we reduced the arrears to the bare minimum several chances went begging as we agonizingly lost 2-14 to 2-13.

Under 12 – A bad day on Saturday was compounded by both u12 teams losing out on finals day. First in action was the U12 development squad who are essentially an u11 team. They played with great heart against Clontibret and led for most of the game before a final period rally saw Clontibret home. The Division 1 final was up next against Carrickmacross, we suffered a nightmare start from which we never recovered and despite pulling the deficit back to three points late of Carrick ran out worthy winners. Thanks to all the boys and mentors for giving us great excitement this year and we look forward to a great future for this bunch of lads.

Juveniles – There will be no training sessions for the next number of weeks to allow the kids settle back into school.  More information on when training will re-commence will follow towards the beginning of October.  Good luck to all our young members back to school this week.

OPTFM 2013 – Registration for this years’ Operation TransFAUGHSmation is now fully booked and will kick off on the 10th September with the information night in the concert hall of Our Lady’s Secondary School at 7pm.  Hope to see you all there!
