Scotstown Seniors who defeated Magheracloone in the first round of the SFC 2013

Seniors: The Seniors were in Championship action on Saturday against Magheracloone, earning a 0-12 to 1-5 win. Scotstown team and scorers: Rory Beggan (0-1); Fergal McPhillips, William Carroll, Eddie Beggan; Damien McArdle, Donal Morgan (0-1), Emmet Caulfield; Darren Hughes (0-1), Francis Caulfield; James Turley (0-1), David McCague, Orin Heaphey (0-1); Shane Carey (0-3), Kieran Hughes (0-2), Brian McGinnity (0-1). Substitutes used: Paul Grant, Nicholas Corrigan (0-1), Padraig Keenan, Peter O’Hara. The reward for victory is a tie against Clontibret in the next round of the Championship, scheduled for Saturday, September 7th in Ballybay. The Seniors were away to Monaghan Harps in the League on Wednesday evening, and welcome Rockcorry to Páirc Mhuire, Scotstown this Saturday evening at 7pm.

 

Juniors: The C team had a home fixture against Seán MacDermott’s on Tuesday evening, going down to a 2-19 to 2-5 defeat. Scotstown team and scorers: Cian Mohan; David Caulfield, Chris McAleer, Adrian Carbin; Emmet McCrudden (1-0), Mattie McCague, Barry McMeel; Damien F McKenna (1-0), Declan McCarville; Shane Rice, Mark McKenna, Tommy Moyna; Ruairi Sheehan (0-4), Mark McDevitt (0-1), Paul Sherlock. Substitutes used: Evan Murray, Nessan McCrudden, Jason Carey, Gerard McKenna, Damien McKenna. They were in action again last Sunday in a home fixture against Killeevan, earning a 1-15 to 1-15 draw. Scotstown team and scorers: Cian Mohan (0-2); Adrian Carbin, Gerard McKenna, David Caulfield; Emmet McCrudden (1-0), Ciaran Treanor (0-1), Mattie McCague; Ross McKenna (0-2), Damien F McKenna; Nessan McCrudden (0-1), Mark McKenna (0-2), Shane Rice (0-1); Paul Sherlock (0-1), Mark McDevitt (0-3), Conor Caulfield (0-2). Substitutes used: Chris McAleer, Mark Treanor, Conor O’Harte, Emmet King. The next JFL game is away to Toome this Saturday evening at 7pm.

Minors: Best of luck to the county Minors as they take on Mayo in the All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park on Sunday. The Minor Championship is due to get going on September 3rd with Scotstown away to Magheracloone in the quarter-final, with the winners to play Monaghan Harps.

Under 16: The Under 16 side are away to Donaghmoyne this Thursday evening, August 22nd at 7:15pm. The game away to Clontibret last Wednesday evening was postponed, and has been rescheduled for Monday, August 26th at 7pm in O’Neill Park.

Under 14: The A team defeated Clones/Currin on Tuesday evening by 9-11 to 2-11, and the B team were victorious away to Truagh on the same evening with a score of 9-26 to 1-12. The B team are at home to Monaghan Harps this Saturday, August 24th at 11am, and the Division One side face Inniskeen at 12 noon on Saturday, also in Scotstown.

Under 12: Our Division One team lost out in their play-off against Latton on Wednesday last by 3-13 to 3-8. They will now play in the Shield Final at the end of August. Team and scorers: Gavin McPhillips; Connor Lappin (0-1); Joseph McKenna; Aaron Boylan; Darragh Murray; Ray Tracy; Michael Connolly (0-2); Michael Meehan; Bradley Maguire (1-4); Niall Corrigan (1-0); Tristan Moyna (0-1). Anti-Bullying Workshop: Ulster GAA are holding an anti-bullying workshop at Cloghan on Wednesday, September 4th from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Anyone interested in attending should contact Gary McQuaid on 086-0551835.

Development Draw: Due to unprecedented demand for tickets, the Scotstown GAA Development Draw has been rearranged for Saturday, October 26th. First prize is a Seat Ibiza car; second prize is a cruise; there are three cash prizes of €1000, €500 and €500 for third to fifth and sixth prize is a pair of tickets for next year’s All-Ireland Football Final. Tickets available on the Scotstown website and from club members priced at €20 each or three for €50.
