Meeting: There will be an important meeting this Thursday in the clubhouse at 8pm regarding our latest fundraising initiative.

County teams: Hard luck to Neil McAdam, Conor Galligan and the Monaghan senior footballers, who fell to a cruel defeat against Tyrone in their All-Ireland quarter-final at Croke Park last Saturday. The county team can still look back with pride on a year which delivered two trophies, including a first Ulster SFC title since 1988. Well done to Kevin Loughran, Fearghal McMahon and the Monaghan minor footballers on their All-Ireland quarter-final win over Tipperary on Monday. They will now play Mayo in the semis at Croke Park on August 25.

Seniors: The Senior Football League resumed last Wednesday with an away win over Rockcorry. In difficult conditions, Rock put it up to our lads in the first 20 minutes, kicking four points to a single Harps response from Paul Rushe, but Gary White, Gareth and Nicholas Treanor and Shane Smyth gave us a 0-5 to 0-4 half-time lead. Gary, Shane, Nicholas and Michael Galligan were on target to secure a hard-earned 0-10 to 0-6 win.

Team and scorers: Cónall McKenna; Shane Coyle, Stephen Driver, Niall Hahessy; Gareth Treanor (0-1), Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Michael Galligan (0-2f); Gary White (Capt., 0-2), Peter Coyle; Nicholas Scott, Nicholas Treanor (0-2, 1f), Paul Rushe (0-1); Emmett McArdle, Shane Smyth (0-2), Dean Fanning.

Subs: Conor McCaughey for Fanning (inj., 41 mins), Niall Greenan for McCaughey (57), Conor Devlin for McAnespie (inj., 58).

Next up is a home game against Ballybay on Sunday at 12.30pm, while the championship match against Doohamlet is currently fixed for Sunday week, August 18, in Clontibret at 5pm.

Reserves: Our Reserve Football League Division Three ended with a defeat away to Éire Óg last Friday. We played some good stuff in the first half to open up a decent lead, with Shane Scott, Evan Morahan, Conor McCaughey, Dessie McGarry and Conor Devlin on target, but Éire Óg finished strongly to trail by just four at the break (0-9 to 0-5). Playing into the wind in the second half, we got an early point through McCaughey, but despite creating numerous chances, we were unable to add to our total, allowing Éire Óg back into the game. The game was level when Éire Óg struck for the game’s only goal, which allowed them to win by 1-12 to 0-10 and pip us to a semi-final place. We can still be happy with a year that saw us win long-awaited silverware in the championship. Thanks to Jimmy Croarkin and everyone who played their part with this team.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann (Capt.); Johnny Sherry, Niall Brannigan, Mustafa Gamal; Conor Forde, Séamus Brannigan, Dean McMahon; Conor Devlin (0-1), Shane Scott (0-1); Gary Murray, Evan Morahan (0-2), Brendan McQuaid; Dessie McGarry (0-3, 2f), John McCoy, Conor McCaughey (0-3).

Subs: Paddy Kelly for McQuaid, Jason McHugh for McGarry, Fionntán Cassidy for Forde.
