Magheracloone G.A.A.
Lotto. The numbers drawn in the Club Lotto this weekend were 1, 11, 14 and 21. The jackpot was not won and the four winners of the Lucky Dip were Charlene Myles, Sinead Hamill, Shane Duffy and Frank Ward. The next draw will take place in the clubrooms on Monday 19th August and the Jackpot will be 3,300 euro.
Pitch Development. The main drain has been laid around the length and width of the pitch and the contractor is currently laying the drainage pipes across the field.
Club members are encouraged to follow the work through the information and photos posted on the club website. Of particular interest are the aerial photographs which have been recently added.
Keep an eye on the website and/or the clubs face book page as members far and near can keep up to date with progress through this facility.
Senior Football Championship. At last the big day is at hand and the senior football championship gets under way. Magheracloone’s first round game is against Scotstown and it will take place on Saturday evening in Clontibret. The throw-in is timed for 7.15. All support for the team would be greatly appreciated. Supporters are asked to come early as the Magheracloone game is part of a double-header with Monaghan Harps facing Doohamlet in the early game.
Senior League. The league resumed with two games in the past week. On Wednesday of last week, Magheracloone defeated Doohamlet on a score of 2-18 to 1-9. On Sunday the team made the trip to Scotstown and lost by the narrowest of margins to their championship opponents. The league continues next week with two further games…versus Castleblayney on Wednesday 21st in Inniskeen at 7.15 followed on Saturday 24th by a visit to Carrickmacross for a 7.00 throw-in.
Under 14. Following a narrow victory over Inniskeen on Tuesday the Under 14 team face near neighbours, Killanny, on Saturday 24th at 12noon in Magheracloone.
Minor League. The minor team travelled to Truagh on Saturday evening last knowing that a win was needed to advance to the semi-finals of the first division
In a complete team performance, with every man playing his part, the team triumphed on a score of 2-18 to 1-7. The opposition in the semi-final has yet to be decided but a clash with near neighbours, Carrickmacross, is a strong possibility. Congratulations to the boys and their mentors.
Under 12 Shield Semi-final. Monaghan is the venue for the Shield semi-final which will take place on Saturday 17th at 1. 15. The opponents will be the local team and all support for these young people would be appreciated.
Charity Cycle. Leo Marron has organised a 150 kilometre Charity Cycle which will be held on Sunday, September 14th. It is in aid of Magheracloone Care of the Aged and the GAA club’s pitch development. Sympathy. The chairman and members of the club wish to extend sympathy to the Hughes family, Shercock, on the death of James and the Caldwell family, Drumcargy, on the death of Owen.
