All Roads Lead to Clontibret

This Sunday sees our Senior Hurlers contest this year’s County Final against Castleblayney.

The lads have put in a huge effort this year and that effort has translated to results so far with the lads taking 5 wins from 6 so far in the Championship.

Last year we came up short against Blayney, let’s hope by 9pm on Saturday evening the cup will be in the hands of Captain Ronan Meegan.

We ask that as many as possible travel to Clontibret to cheer on the lads as their efforts have been first class this year to date.

There is a double header on Saturday with Monaghan vrs Carrick contesting the shield final before hand at 5pm.

Hon the Grattans.

Monaghan Minors

Well done to the Minors as they came out on top against a strong Tipperary team last Sunday in Longford.

I think it is only fitting to comment on the amount of people from the Parish who went down to support young Donal Meegan and the lads, there was a great turnout.

Monaghan ended up winners by a score line of 0-12 to 0-09. Next up is an All Ireland Semi final Against Mayo.

Nothing is impossible with these young lads.

Results

U8 and U10 training continues as usual on Saturday in Pairc Grattan for both football and hurling at starting at 10am for the U10s.

The Keeva Kelly Tournament for U10s was held on the 27th of July in Pairc Grattan. Five teams competed for the Cup with Killeavy coming out on top.

Inniskeen were second and were unfortunate to draw Killeavy in their first match.

Although slow to start, we were a very different team after that, winning the rest of their matches.

Killanny ,Kilkerley and the Pats were the other teams competing and all that competed got medals. Refreshments were also provided by the parents of U10s.

Thanks to all those who helped out on the day to make it the success that it was.

The U12 9 aside team had a challenge match with Carrick and while they are a division above us the lads gave a very good account of themselves, and with a little bit tightening up would certainly feel that they could have taken this game. In the end only 4 points separated the sides. It is hoped to have more challenge matches over the coming weeks as they await their semi-final or final match.

The U12 11 aside team hope to have a challenge match soon as well and continue to train on Thursday nights at 7.30 pm

The U14 team had a great win over Monaghan Harps to take them to joined 1st in division 1 league. They played at home and won on a score of 3-13 to 1-15.

With two games left in the league they are well positioned for the business end of the season.

The U16s have an away match with league leaders Aughnamullen when the break is over on the 15th of August. Training continues as usual in preparation for this match
