The Faughs Gathering – With little under three weeks to go to the start of the Faughs Gathering, the build up to the weekend is really starting to happen. The Club are delighted with tickets sales for the Gala Ball with it fast approaching sell-out. Plans are well under way for the Summer Camp with Mark O’Connor’s coaching team pulling together the final pieces,  while the cultural evening participants have been practicing hard behind the scenes. The Gala Ball will honour the famous five-in-a-row winning team as well as giving the people of Castleblayney an opportunity to gather to reminisce about the old times and more importantly allow people to catch up with friends from years gone by. Mc Mahons Centra Faughs Summer Camp – The Faughs Gathering will open on Wednesday 21st August with the McMahons Centra Faughs Summer camp from 10am to 2pm for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Children of families who are returning to Castleblayney with their parents for the Gathering are particularly welcomed. To date we have received a lot of registrations and we ask that all parents return their completed forms to the coaches this week. Spaces are limited so we would like to get an idea of the number of children attending so we can get another great summer camp organised.

Gathering Concert –Thursday the 22nd of August will see the Club hold a Gathering Concert in the luxurious Iontas Theatre for a night to celebrate the cultural aspects of our community with some singing, dancing and craic. One of the highlights of the evening will be the “Open Mike” sessions with former Faughs players and management legends as they roll Back the Years to chat about the fabled 5 in a row team as well as the teams & matches of the 70’s 80’s and about life down through the years in Castleblayney. Entry fee is €10 per ticket for adults and €5 for Children which can now be purchased at Iontas, McMahons Supervalu or directly from Melissa Conlon at 087 7617216

County Teams – It was a mixed week for our county teams with the Senior team losing out to Tyrone by two points, in a game that Monaghan could have won .The sense of disappointment after the game was huge, with the general view been that we had left the game behind us yet again . Monday on the other hand turned out to be a great day, with the County Minor team taking on Tipperary in Longford, in a tense encounter played out in front of a huge Monaghan support, the boys in white and blue eventually pulled away to win by three points and set up a mouth- watering tie against Mayo in Croke Park on August 25th.

Street League – Wednesday saw week three of the Street League taking place, you can check the updates onwww.CastleblayneyFaughs.com or in Declan Loughman’s. After week two the table is headed up jointly by Bree/Rosevale led by Joshua Mone and Lakeview captained by David Irwin. The standard of play at the street league has been very encouraging with all the good coaching work starting to pay off.

Minor Team – Our Minor Team will play Emerald Sarsfields in the first round of the Championship this Thursday evening in St Marys Park at 7.30pm. Best of Luck to the team and Management as they kick off the Championship, hopefully they can produce the big performance that will be required to advance to the next stage.

Under 16 – The boys had no game this week, training will continue on Tuesday and Friday the next game is against Tyholland at home on Thursday 15th of August at 7pm with a semi- final date yet to be confirmed.

Under 12 Boys – The boys have been training hard in preparation of the Division 3 semi-final with Carrickmacross on Tuesday the 13th of August in St Marys Park at 7pm. In what will be a greater encounter this young Faughs team will have to play football to the highest standard to defeat the Emmett’s, these are two evenly matched teams so your support will be more than welcome. The Senior team had a run out against Drumhown during the week in which they struggled for periods before eventually pulling away to win.

Under 12 Girls – We are still awaiting the fixtures for the next round of games, training will continue on Saturday at 12pm and again on Monday evening.

Under 10 Boys – Training continue on Saturday at 10am, next set of Go Games is on Saturday 24th of August.

Under 8 Boys – The boys have been training hard over the last couple of weeks ,with training continuing on Thursday at 6pm and again on Saturday at 10am as they lads get ready for another set of  Go Games in Carrickmacross against Latton, Monaghan, Cremartin and Carrickmacross .

Under 6 – Training continues again this week in the field at 6pm, to date we have had great number but if there is any parents out there want to have their children playing Gaelic Football why not take them down to St Marys Park on any Thursday evening at 6pm and let them join in.
