Grattan’s Oige

UNDER-16 Football championship victory

Having only suffered one defeat this year, which was to Clones, Inniskeen U-16 again faced the same opponents in the Championship semi-final in Pairc Grattan on Sunday 7th July. Watched by a large crowd, the Grattans managed to hold off and were only three points down at the interval with a scoreline of 1-6 to 0-6. Inniskeen defended well with outstanding performances from Dylan Curtis, Aidan Campbell, Aron Gernin, Seamus Kindlon and Jason Woods, with Ronan Finnegan showing excellent goalkeeping skills. A truly magnificent midfield pairing of Michael Monahan and Peter Boylan were superbly complemented by forwards Sean Russell, Cormac Boylan, Micheal Coburn and  Andrew and Aidan Woods. What can only be described as a wonderful display of team play, saw Inniskeen turn a 5 points deficit with only 5 minutes of play left into a 7 point victory. Aided by substitutes Shane Martin and Padraig Russell as well as unused subs on the night Justin Sheridan and Gavin Dooley, Inniskeen now go on to face Killeven in the final on 18th July, when injury stricken Padraig Deery and Harry Monahan and missing player Christopher Hanratty will see a full strength Grattan squad battle for silverware once again.
