Ulster Champions – Congratulations to The County Senior and Minor teams for their historic victories on Sunday last. In particular, a huge well done to our very own Faughs men Dermot Malone, Martin Mc Elroy, Mark Kelly and Ronan McNamara on winning their respective Senior and Minor Ulster Medals on Sunday last in Clones.

The Gathering Dinner Dance – The Faughs Gathering Ball will happen on Saturday August 24th at 8pm the Glencarn Hotel. The Gala Ball promises to be one of the highlights of what is going to be a great weekend in Castleblayney. The Gala Ball will honour the famous five-in-a-row winning team as well as giving the people of Castleblayney an opportunity to gather to reminisce about the old times and more importantly allow people to catch up friends from years gone by. A fine meal will be followed by music and other entertainment into the night and will be the perfect opportunity for everyone to mix and mingle all for a fantastic price of €50 per ticket. Ticket will be available to buy or pay a deposit to secure a table this Friday evening  at St. Mary’s Park Meeting room from 6.30pm to 8pm or contact Melissa Conlon at 087 7617216.  Can we ask people to purchase their tickets early as demand is already high for the evening. Muckno Mania – There was great entertainment and craic in Blayney last weekend with the annual Muckno Mania festival. Well done to the organising committee for another packed programme of events over the 4 days. As always, the Faughs were well represented over the weekend, Thursday evening was “Come Cook with us” in the Glencarn Hotel, there was great attendance and colour in Friday night’s parade which saw maybe 100 kids wearing their green and gold jerseys. The annual sports day and Teddy Bear’s Picnic which was hosted by the club on Saturday also saw a huge attendance with everyone, young and old, enjoying the fine sunshine and fun and finally we had a stand at the family fun day on Sunday in Lough Muckno which gave locals the opportunity to stop by and get more information on future events like the Gathering and Summer camp next month and of course the now famous Operation TransFAUGHmation due to start in September.

Minors – The minor team were due to travel to St Tiarnach’s on Tuesday last (see results section). Training will continue on Fridays at 6.30 and Sundays at 5 pm.

Under 16 – The under 16 team have their next match away to Rockcorry tonight.

Under 14 – The next outing for our under 14 team is away to Fergal O Hanlon’s on Saturday. Training continues at 6.15pm on Tuesday and at 7pm on Thursday.

Under 12 Boys – The under 12 boys played Carrick in the final game of Division 1A on Tuesday last and won a fiercely contested match by the narrowest of margins which means they finish top of the under 12 league and qualify for the final where they await the winners of the semi-final. Meanwhile the development team had a great win over Doohamlet on Wednesday evening and followed that with a tight victory over Corduff on Saturday. This leaves the boys joint top of the league awaiting the semi-final pairings in the coming weeks. Well done to both sets of players for the spirit and attitude shown over the past week.
