U16’s The under 16 team played Clones in the Championship on Sunday night last and unfortunately were beaten by 1 point in dramatic fashion on a scoreline of 4-08 to 2-13 thus exited the Championship for this year. Anyway onto the game Clones got off to a flying start with a goal but back came Aughnamullen with a goal of their own and it was nip and tuck and at half time led by 2 1-08 to 1-06. Into the second half scores were evenly matched but 2 quick goals left Clones 4 in front but back came Aughnamullen with a goal of their own and entering the final few minutes led by 2 but a goal by Clones in the final minute broke the boys heart to emerge victorious by 1 point. U12’s: Had a great win on thursday last the 25th of June over Killanny with a score line of Aughnamullen 8-10 to Killanny 4-8. The team gave a great account for themselves having players short on the day and to achieve such a score was brilliant on the players performance. Well done to all involved. They also had another great win against Donnaghmoyne on Monday the 29th of June with a score line of Aughnamullen 5-15 to Donnaghmoyne 4-6.This was a great over all team performance with another win under their belts, some lovely scores were taken from far out the field, nothing missed in front of goals and some fine saves by james Hannaway attributed to the final score. A great entertaining game from start to finish well done to team, James Hannaway, Jay Marron, Liam Duffy, Sean Hamill, Martin Sheridan, Ryan Johnston, Joel Willson, Luke Murtagh, Aaron Hamilton, Cillian McGeough and Jason Duffy,subs used Pearse McMahon and Jamie Anderson. Ladies Notes:
Our senior ladies got the championship off to a great start with a win over the St. Brigids team in Ballybay last Friday night with a score line of 2 -19 to no score. They are out in the 2nd round of the Championship in Aughnamullen on Thursday evening at 7pm against Killanny. All support welcome, so come out to cheer on these girls whom have worked so hard all year.
Under 16’s and minors are still training away waiting to compete in their respective leagues which are due to start at the end of July.
Under 14s will be back out training this week after the league final, last week rearing to go and to hopefully go one step further in the Championship.
Winners of the “guess the Score” on the game of Monaghan V Cavan were Therease Murnaghan, Laragh and Sean Mooney, Carrickatee €50 goes to each of them.
