Castleblayney  book place in Senior League Final

Castleblayney   3 – 7

Clontibret          1 -4

Finals are nothing new to ‘Blaney  and they looked convincing when their ace player Kelsey Lam was on song ,scoring 1-4  in the last round of the Senior League on Friday evening last when they took on Clontibret in a hard fought decider of who would meet Truagh in this years League Final.

Castleblayney started off on a good note when Lam had a goal and 2 points on the scoreboard within 11minutes . Orla Mc. Carthy who was solid in defence denied Clontibret on several occasions. Elaine Mc. Kernan and Regan Lynch who were getting the breaking ball delivered to the forward line where Niamh Brennan and Eileen Mc. Elroy with 1 – 2 between them in the space of 3 minutes completed the first half scores.

Clontibret had to wait all of 24 minutes before Shauna Finnegan landed a line ball to the corner of the net.  Eleanor Mc. Quaid put her name on a point just before the halftime whistle to leave a six point deficit for her side.

Eileen Mc. Elroy continued on the winning way and within two minutes of throw in she put one past the Clontibret keeper. Michelle Morgan was denied a goal when  Emma Forde saved a shot in the goalmouth  but Morgan converted a free minutes later when Clontibret kept the pressure on the ‘Blayney defence before Nicola Morgan dropped one over the bar.

‘Blaney’s Kelsey Lam completed her scoring with two successive points in the 18th and 19th minute before Eileen Mc. Elroy tapped one over and Eleanor Mc. Quaid got a consolation point for Clontibret in injury time.
