Two first half dismissals unbalanced this parish derby as a contest leaving Oram with a mountain to climb, and although they battled gamely the inevitable gaps opened up in the second half. Michael Geehan in the middle of his leaving cert togged out at top of the right. A break from Ciarán Costello five minutes into the second half which resulted in a goal for Colin Woods was to prove the decisive score in the game (2-03 0-01). The other goals came from Philip Donnelly in the first half and Paul Finnegan late in the second half. Michael Shevlin pulled off two top class saves later in the second half. The football was scrappy for long periods, it’s just as well Pat Spillane was not in the large attendance at Ballybay. Blackhill are now through to the quarter final of the Junior Championship scheduled to take place on Sunday July 21st.
