Pride of place this week must go to the under 14 team who successfully won the under 14 div 2 Championship with a magnificent win over Carrick Emmetts side in Cremartin on Tuesday last. In conditions more suitable for ducks both sides gave it their all and credit must go to the managment and players on both sides, both sides in the first quarter tried very hard scores however the score remained scoreless, then just after the restart a long ball was directed towards centre forward Darren Geoghegan who stuck it to the net and this was followed by points by Shane Forde and Tiernan Duffy to leave us 5 in points but Carrick opened their account with a point and scores were then traded to leave the half time score 1-04 to 0-03 in favour of the sarsfields. Into the second half Aughnamullen came out of the blocks with 2 quick goals from Tiernan Duffy and a brilliant goal from Forde to leave us 9 in front Carrick came a couple of scores to reduce the lead but a Kieran Marron’s point left us 10 points entering the last quarter and any hope of a comeback were dashed when Darren Geoghegan scored his 2nd goal and we held out for victory on a scoreline of 4-05 to 0-07 and to rapturous applause when team captain Callum Blanche accepted the trophy from vice chairman of the County board Padraig Sherry, this was a great performance from start to finish, Thomas Marron was excellent in goals ably assisted by captain Callum Blanche and Aaron Mc Gee in the full back line the half back line of Kieran marron, Kieran Duffy and Oisin Hamill stood firm in the middle of the park Ryan Bannigan and Shane Forde were magnificent and upfront Darren Geoghegan in the middle ably assisted by Joel Wilson and Ryan Connolly while the inside line of
