ROCKCORRY G.A.A.

CLUB NOTES

16th April 2013

Drumlin Credit Unions Senior Football League

Our senior team made their debut in the Drumlin Credit Union senior football league last Saturday 13th April when they made the short trip to Gavan Duffy Park to take on Monaghan Harps. While the lads played with plenty of spirit and great determination from the first whistle to the last they sadly played second fiddle to a stronger, more experienced Monaghan Harps side whose intensity levels, work-rate and superior energy ensured that they were always in control and they cruised to a comfortable victory on a score-line Monaghan Harps 1-14 Rockcorry 0-6. A full match report and a selection of action photographs can be viewed at www.rockcorrygaa.ie. We will be looking and hoping for an instant response from the lads this Saturday 27th April because they are back in action when they travel to play Magheracloone at 7.00pm.

Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Div 2B

The next outing for the reserve team is on Wednesday 24th April when they to play Oram. The game has a 7.30pm throw-in time.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg – Under 12

Our under 12 footballers played their second game of the Spring league competition on Saturday 13th April and while the weather conditions were nice and dry, it was extremely cold and there was a strong breeze blowing down the field. Aughnamullen played with the elements during the first period and while we started well we sadly could not convert our chances and it was Aughnamullen’s ability to pick off scores from play that gave them the upper hand at half time with the score Rockcorry 0-1 Aughnamullen 0-12. We picked ourselves up well during the second period with all players putting in a huge effort and we were rewarded with four good points but Aughnamullen finished strong and managed to add further scores towards the end of the half to secure the victory on a final score-line Rockcorry 0-5 Aughnamullen 0-14. Their next game is on Saturday 27th April when they play Killanny at Pairc Naomh Mhurie at 12 noon. All players are requested to be in the dressing-rooms no later than 11.30am.

The club is appealing for assistance from any parent to help out with the under 8’s, 10’s and 12’s coaching sessions. We require a small team of volunteers who would take responsibility of helping our trained coaches with setting up drills, looking after footballs & equipment, marking out side-lines, lifting flags etc. This is a small but nevertheless a very important role and we would appeal to anybody especially parents, (ladies/mums) to help out. Should you be willing to give an hour of your time and help out in this ares please contact our Youth Officer Pascal Smyth on 086-8161028.
