Seniors (IFL)

Our senior’s bounced back in Clones after their recent defeat.

After the initial knock back of going down to 14 men and trailing by 4 points, the lads regrouped and produced a solid second half performance to win the fixture by a score line of 1-08 to 1-17.

That’s 2 wins so far from 3 for Alan and the lads, next up is Drumhowan away.

See fixtures for dates and times.

Reserves

Our campaign took quite a blow over the last week as we were defeated in all 3 matches away to Corduff, Emyvale & Kileeven.

Our next outing is not until the Championship at the end of May against the winners of Donaghmoyne or Truagh.

Let’s regroup and get the training in before then; hopefully we can get most of the panel back by that date.

County Minors

Congratulations to Donal and the rest of the panel on winning the Ulster Minor football League on Saturday against Donegal with a score line of 1-10 to 0-10.

Unfortunately Donal was unable to play as he suffered a serious injury the night before trying to secure another Ulster final Cup for Monaghan Hurlers.

The injury resulted in Donal been taken to Hospital, however we are glad to say that he has been since released and is recovering well in at home.

On behalf of all the committee and members we would like to wish Donal well and safe recovery.

Donal is an exceptional young talent and we are delighted to be able to call him a Grattan.

Also a mention of hard luck to Jamie Dooley who was also on the Hurling panel who went down to Donegal at the weekend.

It was a great achievement to of made it so far Jamie, so well done.

Results

U 12 A&B: Both teams went down away to Blaney, Tues 23rd

U14 Div 1: Emyvale 4-08 Inniskeen 3-27. The boys got back to winning ways on Monday night with a great team performance down in St Oliver Plunkets Park.

After the first quarter the lads found themselves a point down, however they soon got stuck in and went into the break 7 points up with the help of some superb long range points from Ciaran McNulty, Aiden & Andrew Woods.

They kept the momentum going well into the 3rd quarter as they extended the lead to 16 points thanks to two well executed goals by sharp shooter Jack Hoey, the second goal was a thunderbolt.

The scores where shared in the final quarter, however Inniskeen finished it off as worthy winners.

Standout performances in the backs came from Dylan Curtis, Seamus Kindlon, Gavin Dooley, Harry Monaghan & Dylan McArdle.

The 2 Woods lads (Andrew & Aiden) dominated the middle of the park and that gave plenty of ball to Ciaran McNulty, Sean Jones, Pauric McGahon, Jack Hoey and Pauric Russell to do the damage up front.

Subs used where Shane Hanratty, Conor Gernon, Pauric Keenan & Jarlath McGahon.

It was a great response after the recent defeats, so keep up the good work lads.

Schools Football

Best of luck to the four lads: Andrew, Christopher, Ciaran and Seamus who are competing in the 1st year Ulster schools final on Thursday for the Patrician High School in Carrickmacross.
