Senior Football

Our game against Truagh was called off  when a  number of fixtures were lost last week due to the heavy rain. Last Sunday evening, Currin continued their Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League campaign away to Tyholland. In blustery conditions, intersperced with some very heavy showers, the first fifteen minutes were fairly even with the score 0-3 each. But then Currin hit a purple patch and in a ten minute spell between the 18th minute and the 28th minute, scored 2-4 without reply, Jack Mc Carron scoring both goals leaving the half time score 2-7 to 0-4. The game was effectively over after two minutes of the second half when Jack scored his hat-trick. Excellent point scoring from the forwards and two goals from Dick saw Currin run out convincing winners on the day 5-12 to 0-7. The unfortunate  injury to Tyhollands Shane Hughes compounded the home teams misery, we wish him a speedy recovery. While this is early in the season, it has to be said that the maturity and teamwork being displayed so far has to be appreciated and applauded. While loath to single out anyone last Sunday, Fergal came to the rescue with a couple of vital saves and in front of him Dara, Gerard, Ben and Enda were superb. Upfront Jack and Stephen controlled proceedings and the forward support play was excellent. A noteworthy feature of the game was the introduction of Jonathon O Connor, who joined another recent debutant Ryan Beattie during the second half. Well done lads and we wish you many more games in the future. Team and scorers:- Fergal Connolly, Dara Brady, Conor Mc Caffrey, Sean Brady, Enda McCaffrey, Ben Clerkin, Gerard O Callaghan, Dick Clerkin, (2-2), Ciaran Mc Caffrey, (0-1), Niall McEntee, (0-1), Francis O Callaghan, (0-1), Stephen Beatty, Jack Mc Carron, (3-4, 2f,1,45),  Stephen Smith, (0-2,), Kieran Kearns, (0-1).
