U13 Astro Turf Blitz 2013

Monaghan Coaching and Games Development organised an U13 Astro Turf Blitz which took place in Toome GFC`s fantastic Astro turf Pitches. It ran over two Saturdays the 2^nd and 9^th of March.  Five hurling clubs took part (Inniskeen, Castleblaney, Carrickmacross, Clontibret and Monaghan Harps) and with Castleblaney and Inniskeen entering two teams we had a total of seven teams. Approximately 70 children took part and all seemed to really enjoy it and the skill levels of some of the players was fantastic. On the second Saturday we played finals with a Shield and Cup competition taking place. Congratulations to Monaghan Harps on winning the Shield and to Carrickmacross on winning the Cup, who played out a fantastic final against Inniskeen, winning by the narrowest of margins 5-4.

A big thank you to all the teams who took part, Toome GFC for the use of their excellent facilities, referees Ann Mc Kenna and Conor Fadian and to Joe Mc Mahon who expertly caught the mood with some excellent photography.

All clubs who took part received two boxes of sliotars and a commemorative DVD with pictures from the blitz on it. The winners of The Cup and The Shield also received medals.

U15 Floodlit Hurling Blitz 11^th March 2013

On Monday Last Monaghan Coaching and Games Development ran our first Floodlit Hurling Blitz of 2013. On a bitterly cold night there was no one in the mood for hanging about. To ensure nobody got too cold all teams played at the same time so not to have players standing around in the cold. Each team played three games and with Inniskeen having a 100% record they were declared the winners.
