Monaghan stayed top of the Allianz National Football League Division Three with a high-scoring win over Wicklow in Clones on Sunday, but the hurlers fell to a third straight defeat away to Louth in the Allianz NHL Division 3A. The minor hurlers started their defence of the Ulster MHL Division Two with a good win against Tyrone.

Meanwhile, there was no luck for Monaghan ladies duo Ellen McCarron and Laura McEnaney in the O’Connor Cup, as they helped DCU to the final, only to fall short against Queen’s.

On the club scene, Cremartin edged out Ballybay in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 1B on Saturday, while there were also wins for Castleblayney and Aughnamullen in Division 2B and Monaghan Harps and Clontibret in Division 3.
