Two of Monaghans brightest handball stars, Terry Mc Elvaney from Harps and Christopher Mc Kenna from Mellans, team up to face Corks finest, Killian Carroll and Patrick Herlihy in the 2013 u/21 doubles semi-final. Showdown is Friday 27 th. at 4pm in Scotstown. This match up promises to be the finest example of ” the perfect game”.

MELLANS HANDBALL

All Ireland Semi-Final. Christopher Mc Kenna(D) & Terry Mc Elvaney’s U21 All Ireland Semi-final against Killian Carroll and Patrick Herilry from Cork was cancelled last week and is now fixed for tomorrow (Friday) in Tydavnet @ 4pm, this should be a cracker of a game, let’s hope the boys come out on the right end of the result, we know this game is not being played at a very convenient time for people at work but all support would be appreciated.

All Ireland Final. There is still no word on Michael Mc Carron’s “Diamond Masters A Singles” All Ireland final but we think it is on the 1st weekend in April but as of yet we have no confirmation, but when we get date time and venue we will be published all the details.

Junior County Final. Eamon Todd’s Junior Final has been fixed for Friday evening the 5th of April in Tydavnet @ 8pm where he takes on Conor O Gorman from Carrickmacross, good luck Eamon, so travel up and show your support.

Senior County Final. For the first time in a few years we have a player playing in the Senior Championship final, Padraig Mc Kenna defeated James Cavagan last weekend in St.Mellans and will now play the very experienced Terry Keirnan from Carrickmacross also on Friday night @9pm in Tydavnet, so again lets travel and show our support for our both players on the night.

Adult County Doubles Final. We have several sets of players in county finals at their grade, in Nov4 we have an all club affair as Brian Mc Kenna(O) & Aidan Kerr take on Todd Bros LTD in Gary and Christopher, this should be a hell for leather affair and one not to be missed, we can fix this game ourselves within the club when it suits both sets of players, we will send out a text and advertise when we arrange the game, in Nov 2 Darrin O Reilly and Paul Mc Kenna(O) have made the final where they face a strong Corduff pairing, but one of the Corduff players is injured at the moment, and in Nov1 Michael Treanor & Ian Treanor have reached the summit where they will take Cormac Sherry & Paul Cassidy from Tydavnet, but Paul is also injured and this game will be delayed, but if both players shake off their injuries both games may be played off on the same night.

Juvenile County Doubles. A list of the doubles both girls & boys that are entered into the county doubles for our juveniles is on display at both alleys so keep practicing as this will be the last juvenile outing of the year, these games will be played off very soon so keep going and try and go out on a high boys and girls.

GAA Leagues. Hard luck to our “A” team as they lost the semi-final last week to Corduff, first into the alley was Darrin where he won both games 21-16, 21-12, then in were the doubles of Kevin & Declan, they shared games winning the first 21-16 but lost the second 9-21, then finally in was Paul O, he lost the first 7-21, and when the lights went out he was 13-18 down and the game was over, hard luck to the team on the night and well done to all you reached the semi which included Damien Mc Clave, the “B” team are playing this week (Wednesday night) against Tydavnet good luck boys.

County Juvenile Teams. We have 4 players in the U14/U15 & U16/U17 county teams, in the U14/U15 Gary Mc Kenna, Aaron & Ryan Mohan play Tyrone in the Ulster Semi-final on the 1st of April in Eugene Quinns of Armagh, good there boys, and Gary Treanor(T) in part of the U16/U17 team which are through to the All Ireland series later in the month, good luck to everyone.

Adult Club Competitions. There are now fixtures up for all both sections in the club doubles competitions, the High House and the Coalisland Fireplace Doubles have been emailed out and are on the notice board in St.Mellans, please keep all the games played up to date as much as possible, the singles are now reaching semi-final and final stages and we also ask keep games played on time, thank you.

HARPS HANDBALL
Irish Junior Nationals
The Irish Junior Nationals will take place on April 19th in Tulla, County Clare.  However due to the large numbers entered, a qualifying round of matches will be held at various venues this Saturday, March 30th. We have 5 players involved this weekend in Williamstown, Curraghboy and Ballaghadereen.  In Curraghboy, County Roscommon, Hubert Sheinbach has a tough match against Seán Mc Adams from Tipperary.  Konrad Kowal plays Padraig Dunne from Laois and Justas Dambinskas plays either Matt Kelly (Laois) or Patrick Murphy (Mayo).
At the Williamstown venue Jakub Szkup will play either Emmett Boylan (Cavan) or David O’Byrne (Limerick).  Eoghan Mc Ginnity and newcomer James Allen will not have to prequalify.  Ramunas Ramanauskas must travel to Ballaghadereen to take on Mayo’s T J Byrne whom he met in last year’s competition.  This will aid Ramunas in his preparation for his All-Ireland final against Robert Fox from Kells which will now take place in Gortnamona, Belfast. The adult version of the Nationals will be held at Ulster venues at the end of April.Girls Club League

The Challenger 2 club league has begun and there are 10 girls entered. Vykinte has won both her games so far and Neda and Viktorija have won a game each.  The Challenger 2 league for boys will commence shortly. This will be followed by a competition using the Junior ball. It is amazing to see the progress of all the new players who joined since September.  However no new players will be accepted until further notice as numbers are limited.

County Team of Six
Monaghan will play Tyrone in the Ulster Final in the U12/13 Team competition which comprises 3 pairings who compete as a team with aggregate scores deciding the winner.  The venue is Armagh on April 1st.  The winners will represent Ulster in the All-Ireland semi finals later.
