Anyone who has sold a direct-debit is asked to pass the details on to the Lotto committee as soon as possible, so they can be entered into our weekly draw straight away. The Monaghan Harps Lotto plays an integral role in the running of the club. If you want to volunteer to get involved in any way (e.g. selling tickets), please contact any committee member.

Meetings: The club’s monthly meetings for February take place tonight (Thursday) in the clubhouse, with the juvenile meeting at 7pm, followed by the senior meeting at 8.

Juvenile presentation: The juvenile presentation night took place in the clubhouse last Saturday. Presentations were made to the double-winning Under-14 hurlers and the Under-14 Division Five footballers, who reached the shield final. Well done to everyone involved in organising the night and thanks to Ducksy Walsh and Rackard Cody for attending and bringing the Liam MacCarthy Cup and the National Hurling League trophy with them. Well done to all the young players who received medals.

Arch Club: We were delighted to host Monaghan Arch Club last Thursday night. As ever, this was a very enjoyable night, with entertainment provided by our own Brian Harvey (celebrating his birthday) and the Arch Club choir. Chairman Dermot Brannigan welcomed everyone along, while the highlight of the night once again was Hugh Coyle giving his speech on behalf of his two favourite clubs, signing off with three cheers for the Harps! Thanks to Donal Kenny and everyone involved with the Arch Club and all our own club members who helped out in any way. We look forward to hosting the Arch Club again.

Race night: We are hosting a race night in the clubhouse on Friday, March 15, in association with the Barry Doherty fund. Anyone who wants to get involved can sponsor a horse for €20 or a race for €100. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Sem Gala Ball: To celebrate 100 years of Gaelic football at St. Macartan’s College, all past pupils are invited to a special centenary gala ball in the Hillgrove Hotel this Saturday, February 16, raising money for the redevelopment of the ‘bottom pitch’ at the Sem. Contact Neil McAdam at 086 3315241 for more details on tickets for what should be a night to remember.

Championship draws: The draws for the juvenile football championships have been made. Our Under-16s will play St. Patrick’s (Ballybay and Drumhowan), while both of our Under-14 teams have been paired with Truagh’s two teams. All three games are quarter-finals.

Membership: Membership fees for 2013 are being maintained as follows: €20 per adult, €10 per child or €50 for a family of two adults and any number of children. Money can be paid to registrar Maurice Galligan, treasurer John Harden or dropped into the clubhouse. The deadline for affiliation is the end of March and prompt payment would be appreciated.

Coaching courses: Upcoming Monaghan GAA coaching courses include foundation courses on February 15/16 (football only) and March 8/9 (football & hurling) and level 1 youth/adult course on February 22/23/24. Discounts are available to clubs who send at least four members to these courses. If you are interested in attending any of these courses, please contact Val Forde at 087 9515175.

The Gathering 2013: Anyone who would be interested in organising a reunion for any former Harps team and club members as part of ‘The Gathering’ is asked to contact any committee member.

Scór: Preparations are well underway for Scór Sinsir 2013, with the finals taking place in Clontibret next weekend.

Dates to remember: The club officer training day for Monaghan takes place in St. Macartan’s College on Saturday, March 10, while our Saturday-morning juvenile coaching is due to resume on April 6.
