Doohamlet GFC Notes

A.G.M.:   Intermediate Champions, League Finalists, Ulster Semi Finalists and Reserve League Semi Finalists, if it’s not broke don’t fix it seemed to be the theme at our A.G.M. on Sunday morning last.  2012 was a very successful year for our club even if it finished with a very disappointing defeat in heart-breaking circumstances in Brewster Park.

Our Chairman P.J. Meehan was glowing in his praise and paid tribute to the players and team management for gaining promotion to senior ranks and achieving our goal.  He also thanked our Reserve team management and all in charge of underage teams.

PJ also thanked everyone who organised and supported our various fund raising activities and reserved special praise for everyone who hosted Come Dine With Me which was a massive success. Our Chairman thanked all our sponsors and a special mention to our main sponsors Gerry and Deirdre McElroy who continually support our Club in every way.

P.J. also gave special mention to our long serving underage coach Michael McEneaney who has overseen the development of most of today’s players and has decided to step back and take a reduced role in coaching the youngsters.  Thank You again Michael for all you hard work.

Secretary Bernie O’Neill gave a detailed account of all club activities both on and off the field and had special praise for our supporters who made all our fundraising ventures such an outstanding success.  Bernie also paid tribute to all our players and management and looked forward to our senior team competing with the best in 2013.  Bernie thanked all her fellow officers for their help and expressed sympathy to all members who lost loved ones during the year.

Bernie concluded by wishing team management of all grades every success in 2013 and hoped that all players would wear the jersey with pride and give their best.

Youth Officer Jim Kelly gave a very detailed report on all underage activities and was scathing in his criticism of the structure of juvenile competitions.  Jim also mentioned in his report that strong amalgamated teams were competing at minor level in Div. 3 and hoped this would be sorted out by the powers that be in 2013.  He also thanked School Principal Margaret McQuillan for all her hard work encouraging juveniles to play Gaelic football and all the many people who help in any way to look after our young players.

Club Treasurer Eamon Connolly and P.J. Harte Sports Development Committee Treasurer then gave a detailed breakdown of our club accounts.
