Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of Currin G.F.C. was held in the Community Centre on Saturday last, 1^st December. At a well attended meeting. the outgoing Chairman, David Rafferty began by welcoming everyone and in a wide ranging address he thanked all those who had worked unselfishly for the club during the past year, especially all those committee members who fulfilled their duties so well and those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. In particular, David paid tribute to those who fundraised for the club especially those who promote our weekly lotto. He congratulated our senior team who had performed so admirably in Senior ranks and highlighted our win in the championship over Scotstown as a game that will forever be remembered in the proud history of our club. He particularly thanked the players and team management for the way they had brought so much enjoyment to the club and community.

Patricia Mc Carron presented her secretary’s report, recounting meticulously the years events, reviewing all our games including senior, ladies and juvenile. She also outlined all the activities which took place off the field of play paying special mention to the Off the Booze on the Ball initiative. Patricia also highlighted our sponsors, our youth committee and fundraisers who make such a valuable contribution.

Our Treasurer Brian Mc Cabe presented his 54^th report, which in itself is an incredible achievement by any standard. Mary Mc Entee presented her Youth report on a very successful year, thanking all those who coached and helped out. A detailed report from senior team manager Declan Mc Kiernan was very well received by everyone present. Our Chairman then confirmed that Declan would be staying on as team manager for the coming season.

ASAP Officer,  Aidan Quigley. U 21 Members, Jack Mc Carron, Ciaran Mc Caffrey. Committee members, Austin Mc Entee, Michael Poynton, Ray Mc Carron, Kieran Kierans, John Connolly, Pauric Smith.

The meeting concluded with David welcoming our new curate Fr Mc Kenna and condolences were extended to the families of all those bereaved during the past year.

Sports Capital Programme:

Currin G.F.C. have been successful in their application for a grant under this recently announced scheme. €40,000.00 has been allocated to our club and as yet the terms and conditions are not clear, but this is great recognition for the work of our development committee who had put a huge effort into this application. Well done to all concerned.

Race Night

Our Annual Race Night on Saturday night last was a great success. Well done to Declan and his team of bookies, tellers and horse sellers. A special thank you to the various race sponsors on the night.
