Blackhill GFC club notes.
Juvenile Meeting:
A meeting for any coaches, mentors, helpers and parents willing to get involved with under age teams next season will be held on Tuesday night next December 18th at 8.30PM in the Annaglaive room. Everybody with an interest especially new people are invited to attend.
A.G.M.:
Our A.G.M. took place on Tuesday December 4th in the Annaglaive room. This meeting was attended by 12 members. Senior team manager Tomas Duffy gave an in-depth report on the senior and reserve team’s fortunes in 2012. The senior team reached 12 points in the league while the reserves captured Crawley cup honours. The highlights of the year were provided by Emerald Sarsfields winning the U21 division 1 title and the reserve teams winning of the Crawley cup. The plight of our juvenile teams and structures after a very disappointing 2012 was a cause for great concern. All subcommittees, Social centre, Bingo, Young at heart and Development presented very positive reports from their years activities which were adopted on the night. The positions of secretary, assistant secretary, youth officer, insurance officer, coaching officer, cultural officer and player representative were not filled on the night. Any person willing to give a little of their time to their community would be most welcome.
Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to the Coleman family following the recent sad passing of Jamie. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a-nAnamachta dhílis.
U21’s:
Emerald Sarsfields U 21’s preparations continue on Sunday morning at 11AM.
County U21’s:
Congratulations to Anthony, Donal and Ciarán Courtney who are on the county U21 panel. These are three men of the highest calibre and they reflect the excellent work done in the club in recent years. They follow Ryan Courtney who was a playing member of last season’s county U21’s.
Club Night:
An appreciation night for all club members and friends of Blackhill GAA will take place on Friday December 16th at 9pm. A hot buffet meal will be served and music on the night will be performed by Mickey the Butcher! Everybody who has contributed to our club in any way during 2012 is cordially invited to attend.
Children’s Christmas party:
The annual Blackhill children’s Christmas party will take place on Sunday at 2.30. A ‘magic man’ and Santa will provide the entertainment. All good children are invited!
Young at heart:
The young at heart Christmas party will take place on Monday at 8pm. All members are encouraged to support this committee’s excellent work on behalf of our own and the wider Castleblayney area community.
Gum shields:
The coming season sees the introduction of a new regulation which will make the wearing of gum shields compulsory at juvenile level including minor grade, for all players, during training and matches.
Outgoing PRO:
Sincere thanks to outgoing PRO Norma McArdle for all her work and unique style which she brought to the role in 2012.
