Annual General Meeting: The 2012 Scotstown GAA AGM took place last Friday night, November 23rd in the Scotstown Sports Complex. Secretary Michael McMahon gave an extensive report on club activities in what was another busy year. The success of the C team in securing the League and Championship double was a highlight on the field of play, as was the success of the second annual Ned Run on the charity front. Treasurer Eugene McKenna reported on the finances of the club, and emphasised the importance of the income of the monthly Ciste draw to the running of the club. Outgoing Youth Officer Macartan McKenna presented a report on the year’s youth activities. Macartan thanked all who helped out in many ways at this level throughout the year, and pointed out that additional help is always needed and would be welcomed. The youth structure provided footballing opportunities for a large proportion of the local youth, and silverware was secured at Under 12, 14, 16 and Minor level. The Scór report was presented by the club secretary in the absence of Cultural Officer Pauline Rooney, who could not attend due to commitments at the Scór na nÓg county final. The secretary and the chairman both praised the dedicated few who work so hard on the cultural front within the club. Chairman Kevin Connolly reflected on what was a mixed year for the club. He thanked players, coaches and management in particular for their hard work in the past year, and called for a concerted effort from all connected with the club for the year ahead. Outgoing officers John Meehan, Macartan McKenna and Ronnie McDermott were praised for their contributions during their terms of office, and their replacements were wished well in their new roles.
