Jackpot for Sunday, November 25 is €1,450 and Rose Hughes and Noel Hennessy are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in the clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Anyone who has sold a direct-debit is asked to pass the details on to the Lotto committee as soon as possible, so they can be entered into our weekly draw straight away. Thanks to all involved in the Lotto for their ongoing efforts on behalf of the club.

 

AGM: The club’s Annual General Meeting took place in front of a healthy attendance in the clubhouse last Sunday. After Chairman Dermot Brannigan welcomed all in attendance, Secretary Lorcan McAdam gave his report and Treasurer John Harden presented the club’s annual accounts. Reports followed from all the sub-committees, including the juveniles, fundraising, the bar committee, Scór, football development and ground development, before team managers and mentors reported on all adult teams Dermot then gave a wide-ranging Chairman’s Address which covered all aspects of the club throughout 2012. He thanked everyone who contributed to the club in any way, giving particular mention to our sponsors and everyone involved in fundraising on behalf of the club in difficult times. Dermot thanked all players, coaches and everyone who volunteers their time on a regular basis. A full report on the AGM will be available on our website: www.monaghanharps.gaa.ie. The motions from the football-development committee to appoint Paddy Kelly and his team as senior management and Brian Lenehan and his backroom to the minors were passed. The election of officers was as follows. Chairman: Dermot Brannigan; Vice-Chair: Declan McArdle; Secretary: Lorcan McAdam; Treasurer: John Harden; Assistant Treasurers: Dermot Coyle and Seán Boyle; PRO: Colm Shalvey; Cultural Officer: Gerard Clerkin; Coaching Officer: Brian Lenehan; Registrar: Maurice Galligan; Youth Officer: Michael O’Donoghue; Children’s Officer: Thomas McCabe; Development Officer: Ciarán Cuddy; Insurance Officer: Anne Treanor.

 

Team management: Anyone interested in managing one of the club’s juvenile teams in 2013 is asked to forward their names to the football development committee. Expressions of interest regarding underage teams should be sent to Ciarán Mulligan (086 8411275) as soon as possible.

 

Scór: Our Scór na nÓg teams produced their best performances over the last weekend when five of our disciplines qualified for the finals, via the semi-finals in Tullycorbet and Ardaghey. The final will be held in Ardaghey community centre this Friday (November 23) starting at 7pm. All support welcome. Our performers were: Emma and Carla Clerkin, Dervla Fowler, Helen McKenna and Niall McManus & Sabh McCabe, Caoimhe Gallagher, Tara Gilsenan, Tara Reilly and Conan Fowler (instrumental); Maria Ferguson and Tara Gilsenan (solo singing); Brianan Buckley, Helen McKenna and Aisling and Maria Ferguson (ballad group); Katie McCleary (recitation); Brianan Buckley, Maria Ferguson and Katie McCleary & Ruairí Forde, Shane McMahon and Nathan O’Donoghue (Tráth na gCeist).

 

Table Quiz: We will be hosting a fundraising table quiz on Friday, December 7. We are currently seeking sponsorship, so anyone who would like to contribute or help out in any way should contact John Hahessy 086 1251615. All help would be appreciated.

 

Clubhouse: The clubhouse is available to book for Christmas parties and other functions by contacting bar manager Liadhan Treanor at 086 7837204. As well as our table quiz on December 7, we will be hosting our own club Christmas party on Saturday, December 22. More to follow…

 

Coaching Courses: Monaghan GAA have a number of coaching courses coming up in the next few weeks, including foundation level on November 30 & December 1 and Level One on November 23 & 24. Anyone interested in attending should contact juvenile secretary Val Forde at 087 9515175.

 

Hurling: Well done to the Under-15 hurlers, who won the blitz in Cloghan on Monday night, beating Castleblayney in the final. The Hurling Club’s AGM took place last Friday night. More details to follow.
