Doohamlet Notes
Ulster Intermediate Championship; Doohamlet 0 11 Lacken 1 04
Doohamlet supporters stayed behind after the final whistle on Sunday last to applaud their heroes off the field after witnessing a display of raw courage passion and commitment from a Doohamlet team who were reduced to fourteen when Ciaran Mc Manus was dismissed for a second yellow card after eighteen minutes. Playing a top four senior Cavan side Doohamlet galvanised themselves and took the game to their more illustrious opponents and strained every sinew to win this match playing football of the highest quality. Lacken struggled to use their numerical advantage due to the sheer ferocity of Doohamlet tackling and in the end their frustration was clear as three of their players were shown red cards and Doohamlet holding a four point advantage.
Our defence once again was outstanding only conceding two points from play and constantly forcing Lacken back. Greg Duffy was immense at midfield with his high fielding and powerful runs forward. Our forwards workrate and movement opened up the Lacken defence on numerous occasions with Ted Duffy finishing top scorer with five points. Niall Connolly continues his good form scoring two points from play with Shane McManus, Paul McArdle, and halfbacks Colin Walshe and Kevin McArdle with one each.
Best wishes to Paul McArdle who received a heavy knock but thankfully his injury is not as bad as first feared and should be ok in two weeks.
After our hectic schedule over the last six weeks Doohamlet players will take a well earned short break before returning next week as we begin preparations for our semi final showdown with Tyrone champions Cookstown on Sunday 18th Nov.
