You all thought the football/running  season was over ,well just before you settle into that post season routine of sitting before the fire taking it easy watching  some soap or reality TV ,we at the Castleblayney Faughs would like to lay down one last challenge to you all in 2012. As part of our fundraising programme for local charities we are delighted to announce our second annual Super-Valu Castleblayney 5km road race which will take place on Sunday 2nd December 2012. Last year we had good support from a number of GAA, soccer and athletics clubs and this year we are hoping for even more.

 

What are the rules?

 

* There is no limit to the number of people who can enter the competition from any club

 

* The winning club will be the club with the quickest three runners across the line, these runners will all have been chipped.

 

* All runners should indicate their club to the registrar at time of registration.

 

The Prize

 

Complete bragging rights for the next twelve months, and holders of the fastest Club in County Monaghan title and more importantly bragging rights within your own club as the quickest team!

 

How do I register? Online registration is open through  www.runireland.com or www.CastleblayneyFaughs.com . Entry fee is €10 pre-registration or alternatively you can pay €12 on the day. This year will see a €500 prize fund. Registration closes at 1pm

 

Prizes are as follows for both male and female: – 1st €100, 2nd €60 3rd €40. Over 40’s Male 1st €30 2nd €20 and Over 40’s Female – 1st €30 2nd €20. Total on offer €500. On completion of the run everyone will receive a medal.

 

Dr Niall Moyna from DCU and RTE’s Operation Transformation has been confirmed as one of the participants and will hold a question and answer session in the Glencarn directly after the run. Niall will be joined by Gerry Duffy from 32 Marathons in 32 Days  and  a host of local celebrities who are also running to support all the charitable causes. Last year this proved to be a very enjoyable event, so why not come along and  maybe win those bragging rights over your friends which no doubt will make your Christmas even more special!
